Hotel Borges Chiado, Lisbon

Overall, there's only one reason to stay here: location. It's next to Cafe A Brasileira in the Chiado district, a great location for walking or getting to any point in the central/historic areas of Lisbon. Other than location, there's nothing 'nice' to say. Hotel staff were oddly disconnected from guests, never once looking up from the front desk to greet you. When you did draw their attention, they were neutral-to-unfriendly. Dispassionate. IDK, have never experienced that sort of thing. Check-in was perfunctory and robotic. Breakfast staff unfriendly. Breakfast buffet (comparing to stays in the Algarve and other places like Evora and Tomar) was largely uninspired. The room: so small your head will hit the wall-mounted TV as you attempt to walk around the bed. The bathroom so tiny our knees hit the wall while on the toilet. Sliding doors around the en suite bathroom constantly falling off tracks. The 3 tiny triangular glass shelves apportioned for toiletries only held toothbrush & toothpaste. They afford you a wall-mounted dispenser w/body soap for shampoo. They gave two small Dixie cups (first found in the bathroom) for water and drinks, and that's it! Never once in the 4 night stay did they refresh/replace them. The place is ridiculous. I'd never stay again even considering its excellent location. Never.

The good thing about the hotel it was centralized in downtown Lisboa so we had no problem getting around

Very run down property. Broken tub, drains, toilet seat, lights and furniture. Will never stay again.

Great location

Excellent service, staff was very helpful, very clean, within walking distance to restaurants, churches, and other local sites.
