Delighted with historic inn, beautifully updated
We were there overnight to celebrate our anniversary and had a wonderful stay. Room was beautiful and very comfortable. Staff were all very welcoming and eager to accommodate. Enjoyed delicious dinner in on-site restaurant. Price for entire experience very reasonable.

The older part of the hotel is cool. We ended up in the new section in the back. Clean and plain. Art work on the walls was for sale. Be aware that half the rooms in the new section are up a flight of stairs. I did not notice an elevator. Also, be aware that the staff does not wear uniforms so you are never exactly sure who works there.

Lovely stay in downtown Hillsborough
So happy that this hotel has been brought back to life! My family lives a few miles from this hotel and I've watched it in my lifetime fall into almost complete ruin. I always hoped that someone would renovate it. On our recent visit, we decided to stay at The Colonial Inn for our 3 night stay. Check in was easy and friendly. Our room was nicer and bigger than it appeared in pictures. We barely used our car because we could walk just about everywhere we needed to go. We had cocktails for happy hour in the bar and had dinner on the big front porch with some of our family. The staff was friendly and accommodating. This stay was easy and comfortable. I recommend it to anyone staying in the area!
