Relatively cheap if you hold out for discounts.
I booked this hotel rather than the much cheaper one down the street because the other one offered only a shower, and no tub; when I travel I do a lot of walking and like to soak my tired muscles in a tub. When I arrived, I was told I'd gotten a free "upgrade" to a "Jr. Suite" (a slightly larger standard hotel room) across the street. Which had only a shower and no tub. I couldn't find a place near the bed to plug in my phone but luckily I travel with an extension cord. The shampoo and conditioner I used the first day were never replaced, though the second morning two small free water bottles showed up. (Luckily I paid attention and didn't mistake the $5.00 water bottles sitting on the counter for the complimentary water promised in the room description.) The fridge for my water was nice, though. It was only too loud to sleep one of the nights; I'd paid extra for a tower room hoping to be above the noise. (It was my first time in Vegas so I have no idea whether anything else would have been better. The sleazy "resort fee" was a lot lower than some other hotels nearby. Sheesh! Why not just raise the room rates so people can do honest price comparisons and pre-pay the whole rate? A friend staying in the hotel paid half the rate I did. I cancelled with another site and rebooked here to get a lower rate as the rates had changed (on both sites at the same time.)

Staying at this hotel was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel stay! I do not recommend staying at this hotel! They are racist against Latino/ Hispanics!! They accused my cousin to stealing a laptop which later turn out to be iPod! Head of security Alex ensure he or his brother stole it and that they had footage! Or to leave the iPod behind with no charges! But cousin was so sure he or his brother didn’t take anything they wanted to see the footage! We had to wait 2 hours for the police to show up because they didn’t want to show us anything unless the police was involved. And kept telling us they were on there way. Which we ended up calling ourselves the police so we get this situation fix.In the meantime recall we all stayed at as a family making us a total of 11 people including my Twin Boys of 7 Months. The total process took 4hours!! Which they ask for their social security number. We finally got to see the footage and the man who stole the iPod looks a regular caucasion 50 year old man!! Nothing like my cousins. They are young 21-28 years old. They could not give us any explanation only that they were sure it was one of my cousins. At the end of the day we lost time for our trip to CA and we were emotional scared about the situation. They knew they had the wrong guy and end up letting them go!! They had already ruin our vacation and our Thanksgiving Day!! Never staying there again their racist and will accuse you of robbery!!

Disappoinying stay, but hoping it was a fluke.
Incredibly disappointed with our stay. I have stayed at the El Cortez before and have had great stays. Check-in was unusually busy for a weekday so the process took about 30 minutes. The room was 6305 and it was much smaller than what a Cabana Junior Suite looks. I think there might’ve been a mix up and we got a Cabana Deluxe room instead, but that wasn’t even the main issue. As soon as we walked in there was a smell like smoke but also something else. The room was dirty. The bathroom looked like only the toilet had been cleaned. The shower had mildew on the glass and the floor looked dirty and as if it hadn’t been cleaned at all in months. There was also mold build up around the faucet. The AC didn’t work all the time and mind you it was 108F outside. When the AC worked it smelled moldy. The refrigerator also didn’t get very cold and made a very loud buzzing noise every hour. Housekeeping never cleaned up our room even though they were on our floor when we left our room. I have never had so many issues with a stay here, so I am genuinely disappointed. I would stay here again if I was given a cleaner room with appliances that actually work. If it happens again I will complain with management but this time I’m hoping it was a fluke of just that one room.

When I arrived to check in, I provided my information and was told I had to pay 176.xx for deposits and resort fees for my three night stay. I expected this amount to be much less because when I booked it clearly stated that the deposits and fees should not exceed the amount paid for the actual rooms. I booked the room for less than 100 dollar for all three nights. The person before me had the exact same issue and was told to look for another hotel and deal with Expedia for a refund. After that was said he waived me to approach the counter. He attempted this with me, so I became agitated and asked where the pool was located. He said there was no pool. I then asked well what resort amenities did they offer and he said these are amenity fees after repeatedly saying resort fees. I ask what amenities am I offered. He said water and coffee. At this point I asked for a manager and he refused and called the next person in line. I decided to pay and tried to just have a good time. Then there is an elevator in the middle of the casino floor that can take you to any floor you want with out requiring a room key like every other “resort” I’ve ever stayed at. This concerned me because there was actually a shooting at this hotel the Saturday before my visit. I was stunned about that. Completely unsafe environment considering anyone can follow you to your room if they witnessed you win money playing in the casino. This felt more like an extended stay motel than a hotel.

THE WORST STAY EVER, ANYWHERE, including! Had previously booked a couple of nights @ a hotel in Grand Junction, CO & was a SUPER experience, as we were on our honeymoon, 5.5 hrs away from home. We then went to Las Vegas to continue our trip. Upon our arrival at El Cortez, we walked into the casino hotel, and the front-desk staff employees were extremely NON-friendly. Now, this was after driving 7.5 hrs from Grand Junction-LasVegas. Would have been nice to get a welcoming greeting followed by a smile. Instead we got directions to the stairs, which there was no elevators to our room. Walked 15min. after checking in to the parking lot to get our luggage and 15 min. from the parking lot, up the stairs and into our room 2x's! We cleaned up, put our stuff away, walked down looking for something to eat. When done, walked the Fremont strip to begin our nightout as honeymooners, & had a good evening. Upon our return back to our hotel room, found it EXTREMELY hard to sleep, as it was loud in our room. We could feel the bass from the music being played over the loud speakers on Fremont strip on the floor, the bed shaking & could see it on bottled water shaking in bottle. We couldn't sleep, all night! We were so upset, we cancelled the other 4nights we had already paid for. Upon checkingout, we were not asked how our stay had been, or concerned for checkingout early just asked if we had cancelled w/ We left Vegas & and went back toGrand Junction. Never again Cortez
