The Hotel was mediocre at best. The room was not particularly clean, with dried food stains on the reading table and a good bit of dust. The shower fixtures were a shambles with a shower handle retaining bracket that kept falling off. Parking at the hotel is provided by a 3rd party, requiring a special app to use, and at add’l cost. The parking charges should instead be rolled into the hotel bill without the need to disclose privacy information to 3rd party marketers just to park in their lot. While friendly, the hotel staff weren’t particularly efficient or helpful. One cleaning staff pushed past us with cleaning equipment entering an elevator without so much as a thank you or excuse me. The one great advantage of this hotel is that it is ideally located for both the University and downtown/Capital area entertainment and services. I suppose that is enough to keep them in business despite the hotel’s lackadaisical mediocrity. The sad part is that we had just stayed at a Hampton Inn at Amelia Island, that couldn't have been better or more pleasant in every way. It made this Hampton Inn in Columbia feel like a sad and poorly managed property.
