Terrible hotel of Chicago O'Hare area
"SpringHill Suites Chicago O'Hare by Marriott" is a terrible hotel. The receptionist of the Springhill-Marriott hotel and her boss, the guest experience manager, made a good team to offend guests. The assistant general manager, the boss of the receptionist and the guest experience manager, took sides with her staffs and assumed the hotel guests as liars by disbelieving the guest's complaining statement of experience with the hotel staffs. We had to wait for the shuttle bus about an hour at the designated place. We phoned to the hotel to pick us up several times and the hotel told us to wait a little more, but it took about an hour for the shuttle bus to show up at our place The hotel staffs including the assistant general manager told that their shuttle bus was at our place twice where we were waiting. But my family and my friend's family (10 members) did not see the shuttle bus. The SpringHill-Marriott hotel did nothing to compensate, if at all, for the discomfort and offense they inflicted upon us. The "SpringHill Suites Chicago O'Hare by Marriott" staffs are a very good team to offend the guest, to assume the guests as liars, and to disregard the discomfort they made upon the guests. It is really a shame of Chicago city and O'Hare airport to have such a terrible hotel and such a rude and arrogant hotel staffs near. My experience says that if someone is considering to visit Chicago or O'Hare airport, the "SpringHill Suites Chicago O'Hare by Marriott' must be avoided

Very Good 8.0
Nice hotel close to train and airport noise
Nice hotel, not so nice location. Staff was great, very friendly. Good breakfast, included with stay. Scrambled eggs, sausage, make your own waffles, pastries, etc. Clean room. We had a decent sized room for a family of 5. Unfortunately our toilet was backed up. We called to have it fixed twice. Both times staff was very understanding and sent someone to fix it immediately. However there seemed to be something more wrong with it. After it backed up the third time in the middle of the night we did not bother to call to have it fixed. We did not want to potentially move rooms in the middle of the night, or have someone come in while the kids were sleeping. We don't think the hotel or the staff did anything wrong. It was just an unfortunate situation. There is an indoor pool, that was heated. The pool and surrounding area were in good condition. It was a smaller pool that was crowded during our stay. There was no hot tub. There was a free shuttle to the train station every 30 minutes. This was nice because walking to the train from the hotel was not very safe because of busy roads to get there.

Exceptional 10.0
Close to the airport -free parking - airport shutt
It was exactly what I needed. I had 3 kids staying with me in the room. One of the best breakfasts I've had at a hotel: fresh fruit, yogurt, ham, cheeses, bagels, sweets, eggs, etc. Coffee was decent. One of my kids said the apple juice tasted fresh squeezed, even though I know it wasn't. The shuttles run at 15 and 45 mins after the hour, every hour, right on time. Two shuttles, one to airport and one local. Parking is free at the hotel. I had global entry appts at the Chicago airport for my kids. The whole experience was entirely smooth. I ate breakfast, checked out, loaded my bags in the car, took the shuttle to the airport, went to my appt. The dropoff was right in front of the customs passport office. Took shuttle back to the hotel and got in my car and drove home. There is an Outback restaurant in the hotel. Very convenient. Great experience!

Bad patrons at the Pool.....
Hotel was very nice, room and beds were very clean and comfortable. Issue we had was with the pool. We arrived later in the evening around 8:30pm and my 5 year old wanted to swim.(main reason why we booked this hotel) We arrived at the indoor pool to find several adults in the pool with glass beer bottles that where obviously intoxicated. Upon this we reported it to hotel staff and they informed us they will look into it, and we decided to swim in the morning. Revisited the pool at 9am, to find the pool "Closed for maintenance"...and the pool hours are from 6am-11pm. I then went to the front desk with a very sad and crying 5 year old and asked when the pool would be open. They(front desk) radioed maintenance whom then responded..."Yeah that place is trashed from last night, and we won't get to it for another 2 hours". Needless to say after booking a hotel that had an indoor pool...did not have an indoor pool available due to poor staff communication and policing other patrons.

Good 6.0
Upon arrival I was welcomed with an unpleasant suprise of a $17.00 " parking fee " which I never had to pay for during any visit to any hotel or motel in any city or state. The desk clerk informed me that this information was included in print in the reservation terms. After scrutinizing the agreement..I found this term of condition in place..This clause should have been much more up front. During the evening there was much loud and rowdy activity in the outside hallway.A large group of teenage boys on a school trip was running up and down the hallways making quite a stir..Laughing..yelling...loud talk..Question...Where was their chaperone..or better yet..hotel security..??.. Bottom line is.Although my room was very comfortable ,clean and roomy.. I would never consider staying at this hotel again. And this unpleasant experience has made Marriott overall...very questionable .
