Private room in a hostel. Very clean and new
Private room in a hostel. Very clean and new, modern furnishings. If you go on a weekend with rugby on, be prepared for the hundreds of fans partying outside your double secured door

STAY AWAY FROM STAY CENTRAL
please heed other reviews about the noise and partying at this property. it is of an epic and disturbing level. from 7:30pm until 3am, don’t expect peace or quiet. and don’t expect management to respond in a responsible or timely manner. even with earplugs and in a supposed “quiet room” i was unable to sleep until after we’ll after 2am. and when not hearing the lyrics to party “favorites” like “come on eileen,” the sounds of smashing bottles and yelling was non stop. even the homeless shelter a few doors down has invested in noise blocking curtains. perhaps stay central should follow suit. google Cunningham House and you’ll find an article. hotels.com intervened and asked stay central to let me out of my two remaining nights. the hotel refused. clearly stay central cares only about collecting $$... not their patrons’ experience, or well being, for that matter. after two sleepless nights, i was moved to a room that was quieter, but had no heat. my fourth and final night, the heat was on and i finally got some much needed rest. hotel management cares more about partygoers at adjoining three sisters bar (notorious in edinburgh and a place i learned “locals never go”) than paying patrons trying to sleep at hotel. the front desk staff were wonderful and they should take over management! really appreciated greg in particular, who was awesome. be advised that the cowgate is not a place for solo travelers to be walking around at night.

Great price but too loud on the weekends!
Stay Central is an amazing little place- I stayed in a "Medium" room which was really large and had all the necessary amenities and others that were a nice addition (blue tooth speakers in the room, delicious treats with the coffee/tea, and conditioner (ladies out there know this isn't common)). The only problem with the room itself is that my bed was clearly two twin beds pushed together with full sheets. That wasn't exactly what I was expecting for the price and impacted the comfort of sleeping. The wifi also was very weak (strong near the door towards the main portion of the hotel, but weak at the bed and desk), but that didn't impact my stay. The biggest problem- which many others have pointed out- is that Stay Central is right next to the Three Sisters Bar. Yes, Stay Central will say that they try to make this clear on their website. But merely saying it is "Propped on top" of Three Sister Bar doesn't make it clear that the bar is entirely outdoors. The noise is VERY loud and it is basically impossible to sleep on a weekend. My room did not even face the courtyard and I could hear the music through the walls/my window. I was lucky that the music got quieter after 1am, but it was really disappointing to have that experience. I would NOT recommend staying here on a weekend unless you're the type of person who is out past 3am. Otherwise, you most likely won't get a good nights rest. However, this was the perfect place to stay on Thursday evening.

If you want to stay close to the National Museum of Scotland, this is as close as it gets. Watering hole adjoins the property.
