    The Way Life Should Be!

    Our vacation to Frogmore was the best trip we've ever taken as a family. Our kids are still talking about it and my wife and I are planning when we can make a trip back. It's a perfect Virginian cottage nestled up on a hill of the Frogmore farm. We woke up to amazing sunrises, had our coffee, listened to the gentle sounds of a quiet life, got the fire pit lit to warm ourselves as we had coffee. The kids would climb in the trees, we'd take walks on the paths in the woods and then head into Yorktown or Williamsburg for the day. At night, we'd come back to make dinner, let the kids run free and have another fire outside. And we wanted to be back in time to walk down by the water to see the most gorgeous sunsets. At night, we'd put the little ones down and our 7 and 8 yr old would play board games with us. Then my wife and I would drink a glass of wine and enjoy the peace of Frogmore. The house was so beautiful with built-in bookshelves filled with books for adults and kids. We honestly felt so at peace, so relaxed and amazed to see the kids happier and actually playing outside and with each and getting along. We didn't watch tv the entire time and no one even asked for it! We will make it an annual vacation. I also can't say enough good things about the owner - an outstanding host! Lastly, there was a review about the house not being clean - that couldn't be further from the truth for our visit. We are very particular about cleanliness and we felt so at ease, so at home. Our time at Frogmore is the way life should be!

    Decent Stay

    Needed to stay here while doing home improvements. Overall, it was decent. I originally had a very hard time trying to find the driveway due to lack of signage. Ended up driving through the front yard, and realized that you needed to take a right where there is a barn/apartment is. There is no microwave, which I didn’t realize I missed until we didn’t have one. No WiFi, which was fine for me. The sheets did not fit the bed properly, and were thin. There is only one a/c unit that properly cools the whole house, so I would suggest turning it down low if you want the home to be cool when you get home. I did observe there to be Cobb webs up in the window in the kitchen, and the kitten sponge smelled horrible. I preferred to was the dishes with paper towels. It was quiet, and taking a walk throughout the property was very nice. Beautiful sunrise/sunset. If there could be some adjustments to the recommendations/concerns, then it would be perfect.

    Not as Expected

    Beautiful views but the windows were filled with dirty cob webs. Comfortable mattress but the bed linens were worn and too small for the bed. It was not throughly cleaned or properly prepped for guests (coffee maker wasn’t emptied, oven hood was filthy). Overpriced for the overall condition and lack of amenities.

    tranquil getaway in the country.

    My wife and I enjoyed our anniversary getaway to the country. Well-appointed Cottage with everything you need. Very comfortable beds and a great selection of books to read. We loved having our morning coffee looking out on the view in front of the house. Quiet and peaceful. Will definitely be back.

    A magical place

    I’ve stayed at vacation rental properties throughout the US and abroad. Out of the many, many places I have stayed, this was by far THE BEST vacation property for peaceful relaxation. The little cottage is so charming. It’s roomy and exceptionally clean. The beds and furnishings are high quality and comfortable. The land on which the cottage is located seemed like heaven to me, and my dogs loved being able to run and explore. There was a beautiful screened porch and a fire pit with comfortable Adirondack chairs which overlooked the property. There are very few neighbors close by, however a big fluffy black dog came to visit and play with my dogs every evening. I will definitely visit again! This place is absolutely amazing!!

    It was nice but could have been cooler

    We had a good time but wish it wasn't so warm in the home because the heat kicked on and we got extremely warm. My 6 year old was slightly bored since there was no wifi or television but we knew that going in so we taught her how to do puzzles and played cards. The rain kind of dampered our stay but overall it wasn't too bad. We also wish there was a microwave or toaster oven and like others, a sign to show the driveway would be great.

    Cottage vacation

    Loved our stay at the cottage in Hayes. We had our 3 dogs with us and it was a wonderful place for them to run and play. Very quiet and peaceful. Did not miss WiFi or TV. Owner was very accommodating!

    Peaceful, beautiful location

    This property is perfect for a wonderful get away. Atmosphere of this site gives a feeling of being in a more peaceful time from the past. For those who won't fret over the lack of Wifi & TV it is a great escape with plenty of entertainment and dining close by. A sign at the last two intersections on the gravel driveway might be helpful.
