Charming but difficult for seniors
Although the hotel was quite clean and the staff very friendly, there is something to consider if you have any mobility issues. THERE IS NO ELEVATOR! When we first arrived at the hotel, we had to make two trips up the front steps to bring all of our luggage. (Pre-cruise stop)Then when we got to the desk we learned there wasn’t an elevator up to the rooms. The stairwell was narrow and steep. Thankfully the young girl at the desk helped us with luggage. Another issue we encountered was my fault. I had not realized the room I booked had a shared bathroom. But even with so many cruisers coming into town, they did have a room with a private bath still available and luckily on the same floor.

Poor 2.0
More like a rude overpriced hostel
Grossly overpriced. Staff was so horrible and rude. We travel a lot and have never been treated so poorly by staff at a hotel. This hotel was more like a hostel. You pay for a bed. You get nothing else. Not even bottled water. They sell nothing. Their breakfast is not consisted of stale pastries and horrible coffee. The area is sketchy but not far from GasTown. Internet (WiFi) was like dial-up. We were disappointed with our stay, then when the manager aggressively addressed us in the morning it made things way worse and cemented our opinion of the staff and the hotel. She gave Canadians a bad rap. It honestly gave us a very poor impression of the country. However, on our way back through, we stayed at a different hotel and the staff were lovely and we had a wonderful tour with a local Canadian…That hotel and tour really changed our opinion and we discovered the only horrible Canadians are the ones from Victorian hotel. Such a shame.
