10/10 Exceptional

A lovely stay
This was our first time staying at this hotel and we enjoyed our stay. Our room was tiny with a tinier bathroom, but we embraced the quirky boutique nature of it. We could appreciate the time and care it took to restore a building from the 1920’s. There are larger rooms available, but as this was a one night stay we were fine. The bed was very comfortable with soft linens and pillows. The check in process was super easy and the front desk person friendly. Parking was easy and we loved the location. Complementary breakfast was included and was quite tasty - a vegetable frittata, well cooked potatoes and cinnamon coffee cake rounded out other options like cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee/tea and whole fruit. We would happily stay again in this grand, historic place.

6/10 Good

This was our first stay at this hotel. The regular king room is VERY small. My husband and I were traveling with our dog (it's great that this is a pet-friendly hotel!), but by the time we all got in the room with suitcases from a 2-wk cross country trip, there was hardly room to turn around, let alone lay out a suitcase. If you're traveling alone and only have one carry-on bag, you might be okay with the room size. Decor appears drab and dated. I know this is an old building, but it could really stand to be modernized. They first sent us to an occupied room and then we had to go back down 3 times to get the card key to work. Due to COVID (I assume) waits at the front desk were long. The bathroom was also cramped. Caulking around the tub was stained and the tub itself was damaged. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was excellent. It's location downtown is perfect. Parking was easy. In spite of that, I'm not sure we would stay here again unless we couldn't find another dog-friendly accommodation.

Charming hotel in need of a freshening up.
Charming older hotel right in the heart of Ashland. Very cool lobby, free parking out back including 4x car chargers. Cute restaurants on the creek are a short walk away. The rooms themselves are on the small side and could use a freshening up.
