Sukkot stay with son
Great festival and concert. You have to order room service to get ice. Cold water was only available down by the pool or bar, though it was free and available 24/7. I would stay there again. Room was fine.

A hostel for the price of a 5 start hotel
All I can say is don't stay here. For the price of a hotel in central London that's outstanding, you get nothing. Not too much to the fault of the hotel, but what the hotel has to deal with during the weekend. If you must stay here, do not do so over the weekend. the price is so high, but the place turns into a jungle. The clientele are loud and filthy. I cannot put to words how bad it was. I've lived in Israel most of my life and I've never seen anything like it. The pool may look pretty, but it's fenced off so that you can only access it at one point. This is evidently to aid in controlling the heathans that stay there over the weekend, but it makes the use of the pool unpleasant. Also, if there happens to be awedding, then the pool is off limits for the day and you have to find something else to do. There is no parking per se, though there are spaces close to the entrance, they seem to be reserved for the owners' friends (they say that they are handicapped, but not a single vehicle had a tag and they were obviously not). The food is about as bad as can be and there is no bellboy on the weekend, so get ready to schlep your stuff. The only good thing about it is the staff. They are the only reason why I did not leave the first day. As there is not a lot of choice in Ashkelon, it seems the Leonardo would be the better choice.

ants in the room
this hotel is in need of TLC, the walls were painted but in patches, the rooms have fabulous views but there are ants all over the furniture and even on the bed. Staff are friendly and most speak English. Excellent location for the beach and restaurants about 500m from the beach path from the hotel.
