A convenient hotel but bring your own iron
A cute hotel in centre of Florence. Consists of two buildings, I was in the second one so had to walk miles to get there. No wifi or at keast it did not work and no iron and board upon request, which was inconvenient because I had to iron my clothes. Stuff was friendly and the design was held very Italian. Rooms were practical but clean.

Great Location
This hotel is in an excellent location between the train station and Duomo. There is someone at the front desk 24/7 and it is very easy to find and check in. While it is old, it has a cool Florentine charm to it as I had a dining room type set up outside my room so it felt like I was staying in someone's guest room. The only item that bothered me was that although it was air conditioned, I fell asleep with my light on and got a couple mosquito bites, assuming they came in through the window which has no screen even though it was closed. Also, the breakfast selection didn't have much. However, I recommend the hotel for the price and location.

Location, location, location
Can't beat location, between train station and Duomo. Typical Florence hotel, slightly rundown and in need of some refurbishment, but great staff and good (free) breakfast. My first room had a serious problem with leaking, so I was switched immediately to a better, more comfortable room. Dreadful lighting in the rooms--glaring lights hard to read by. Need better bulbs. I'd stay again.

Hotel Martelli, Florence
The hotel is very centrally located, near the Duomo and the train station, in addition to many other interesting sightseeing options. The service is nice and staff is friendly. However, we spent three days without internet and it didn't seem the staff was doing much about it (every time I asked, I got a different response). Breakfast was a bit disappointing as there were very limited option of fruit and no fresh juice (or good quality processed juice). On my first day, apples and bananas. On the second day, apples. On the third day, no fruit at all. I found this particularly disappointing in view of the fact that the markets were FULL of various options of seasonal fruit (peaches, apricot, plumbs, pears, strawberrys, berrys, etc).
