Great town
We loved the town but the hotel was very scarce amenities wise. No ice machine, AC shut off constantly, nothing extra at all. We found trash under the beds. Beds were nice and comfortable, but the bathroom was extremely small. Could barely turn around let alone get dressed. Much cuter places near by with much more to offer.

An hour from the Grand Canyon - no frills hotel
Two friends and I stayed at M Star on a weekend trip to The Grand Canyon for Memorial Day. M Star is in Williams, about 60 miles away from Grand Canyon - about an hour drive away. We booked the hotel about a month in advance and this one was of the closest hotels with the most reasonable price. And had the "important" amenities - free wifi and free parking. My friends and I all agreed the room was overpriced for what we paid. (Of course, it's holiday weekend and looking for a place close to Grand Canyon will result in higher prices.) The room was fairly small with queen beds. I deducted stars because I found hair in the bathtub and bathroom when we first walked in. Also, there was initially no trash can in the bathroom, which was inconvenient, but we found one tucked a corner under a table and was able to put that in the bathroom. The complimentary soap they provided broke each time we tried to use it as well. The towels were thin, but when we asked for extra towels, the housekeeping staff was polite and quick to respond. This is a no frills hotel, so if you're looking for a luxury hotel with 24/7 staff, I wouldn't stay here. However, if you need a good, quiet, safe place to sleep, in a convenient location to The Grand Canyon, M Star is a good choice. It's in Williams, which is on the historic Route 66. There are tons of souvenir shops nearby and picture-worthy areas, so it's also a nice place to stay for that reason.

Williams/Grand Canyon trip
I had read that the hotel was recently upgraded. Although it was renovated, it did not seem that the contractors did its best to give finishing touches. For example the toilet seat seemed offset. Also, I found the toilet to be too cramped in its position between the sink and tub. For what we got, I think a reasonable price should have been about $20/night cheaper. But all-in-all it suited our needs.

Grand Canyon railway trip
We stayed here so we could take the train to the Grand Canyon. The room needs updating but that doesn't bother me. It was clean and the beds were good. There wasn't enough hot water for showers though. That did bother me. You can hear trains passing by during the night blowing their whistles but I like that sound so it didn't bother me.

Spacious, clean and great quality.
Room was very spacious and clean. Newly renovated. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great price for the quality. Only minor issue was the heating unit was located over one of the beds and would wake me up every time it came on. No continental breakfast at this motel. I would definitely stay here again.
