Better places to stay!
Apparently the receptionist upgraded us free of charge! Broken hook on back of bathroom door so no where to hand a wet towel, frayed and ripped carpet, dust on skirting. We went to the bar at 1.30am to get a soft drink to be told be rude staff it was closed and to use room service. Went to reception, who got the cleaner to go to bar and come back with 2 soft drinks! Really? Breakfast was fine food wise but service was shambles! Only one person on on Saturday morning who was clearly struggling due to the numbers occupying the tables. Must point out she was doing her best. Noisy if you are a light sleeper and have a room overlooking the station. It does have a good location and main meals were good. Beds and pillows were super comfy.

Try Another Place
We planned our trip to Edinburgh months in advance. We planned to stay in the same hotel as our friends at the Jurys Inn. When we arrived, it was clear the staff had given our room away. They did provide us with a room at their "sister" hotel about 10 minutes from the Jurys Inn, a free taxi ride there, breakfast, and a free ride back to the Jurys Inn to meet up with our friends the next day. Our friends booked a triple room so they could have a comfortable nights sleep with their son sleeping in a separate bed but they did not get this. Their room was clearly also given away, as they were given a double bed. They complained and staff stated they would bring them a cot for their son to sleep on but this promised was also not fulfilled. Overall, I was very disappointed with our experience, but at least they were able to give me a place to rest, after a very long day of travel.

Fantastic
From another country-got there early-11am-and they let me right into my room so I could start my touring around early. They were very professional. Very courteous/friendly/helpful. The location was great bc it was close enough to the train station and the attractions and the hop on/off bus start. The breakfast was very good and not rushed. The room was really big and had 2 beds - one of which was a queen and I was 1 person!!! Had stayed in London and Paris and those rooms could not compare to this one. Would highly recommend this hotel!!!

Expected better
Guy at front desk super helpful and kind. Dining room staff not particularly friendly but not ride either. Room dusty, marks on bed sheets, bathroom chipped and scratched. Hair on bathroom floor, dirty rings and marks in tub and sink. Asked for it to be cleaned again, guy was friendly and apologetic but still didn't clean well. Coffee creamer didn't get refilled during our stay, towels didn't smell fresh. Room incredibly hot. We turned off radiators, had windows open and fan running all day and night for 3 days during cold, wet and windy days in October and room was still hot and stuffy. On second evening none of our key cards worked for our room. Went to front desk and lady expected us to check out even though we booked for 3. Then she tried to say it happens when they are next to mobile phones. Mine was in a different pocket from my phone and my children don't even have phones. Beds comfy, felt safe, breakfast ok but nothing wonderful.

Great location, comfortable bed.
This hotel was in a great location for me. Close to Waverley Station and the Royal Mile, it was perfect for my visit. The bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was very tasty. I would definitely stay here again.

Good location for walking not driving
It’s a wonderful location for walking not driving. The hotel is very old on the inside. Two electric outlets in the room none in the bathroom. Bathroom has no counter space we had to drag a small table in there. Carpets not so clean Beds are great. They have fans now, no A/C Food is good, bar is nice. Easy walk up to the mile with tons of things to do. We stay there every year but we think for the price we may try a different hotel on the mile just to compare. It’s okay if just sleeping and you want a central location to the old part of town. Don’t go there for the niceties...there are none.

Had never visited Scotland, was not disappointed. Edinburgh has its own personality. Other than the many hills it was a wonderful experience.
