The hotel is in an excellent location very central. for shops restaurants bars gardens etc .The hotel itself has everything you need rooms average size ,the bathroom had bath and shower,tv,tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer ironing board and iron.Bedroom and bathroom were clean but the hotel is a little tired and could do with updating. Man on reception [not sure of his name but think it might be Andy] was very helpful and found us a car paring space for the two nights which we hadnt reserved,we were very pleased we got this receptionist and not the other guy as he was rude and couldnt be bothered.Didnt use pool and spa but looked ok.The breakfast was not good at all the eggs had been there so long you could have bounced them ,sausages were hard and the bread was of the cheapest kind with no alternative.

Convenient location
Firstly, the hotel is not set in large gardens, as the photograph cleverly implies, it fronts onto a busy main road. The Car Park has about 35 (locked) spaces for the 81 bedrooms. These are NOT allocated on a first come basis, but on a pre-bookable basis, a point that you might miss if you don't book direct. The staff are all very helpful and will direct you to free parking roads, a brisk walk away from the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable, but certainly did not "sport modern decor" as stated on the web site. During our visit, the weather was warm and required the windows being open throughout the night. A the room faced onto the main road, traffic noise and people leaving the hotel or next door restaurant, were very noisy. The Buffet Breakfast was good, but they use irritatingly small plates to try and reduce the amount you take. The hotel is situated conveniently close to the local amenities, which makes it an ideal base for visiting Harrogate.

A pleasant interlude
I was pleasantly surprised by the helpful and pleasant attitude of every member of staff with whom I came into contact and the bar food was good. The parking wasn't as bad as I expected although it became annoying to feed the parking meter first thing in the morning & then to move the car to another parking spot after 3 hours. The breakfast was a disappointment & the atmosphere was rather like a works canteen, although the staff worked very hard. The telephone in my room didn't work, so I had to go down 3 floors to speak to reception.

A charming hotel in a beautiful spa town
Staying overnight for business with my wife as a guest. Hotel is in a great position for sight seeing, shopping and eating with plenty of on street parking. Some of the décor is dated but that's Harrogate and that's the charm. Staff are funny, eccentric but again that's the charm of Harrogate.
