Friendly staff, great location, clean, comfortable
We stayed only one evening at this property. However, our stay was very nice. The staff at the front and at the evening wine and cheese area were both very nice and helpful. The room was very comfortable. We had 2 complimentary waters. The chocolates from the turndown service was a nice touch as well. They have complimentary wine and cheese for an hour in the evening. The location is very convenient to the Fort, restaurants and the waterfront walking area.

One more off the bucket list
I grew up on the island visiting old San Juan and always dreaming of staying at the hotel someday. It was awesome. The people were amazing, very friendly, and welcoming from the front desk to any employee you would see in the common areas. The only thing that was a bit of a disappointment to me was the rooms did not look like the pictures. Not in a bad way, I was just expecting some of the old-world charm in the rooms. But everything was beautiful and clean.

Great stay
This is my 4th stay in “ El Convento “. Service is good but rooms needs upgrade. For example tiles in the restrooms in the grout area. I’m really picky for the bathroom. But overall great hotel.

Cool location but some upgrades need to be done. Air conditioning in room #108 drip in the foyer. The Bed really needs to be updated. Very uncomfortable bed sang to the center and pillows where to soft. For your buck $$$ you're better off staying in San Juan and scooter to old san jaun to shop/hangout.

Absolutely FILTHY hotel. But beautiful!
Dirty hotel with broken air conditioning. We should have listened to previous reviews. This hotel is filthy. Countless hairs from previous guest in the bathroom, random debris on floors, black mold in showers. Gross. And after repeated request for housekeeping to rectify the problem nothing was done. And it’s a shame because this is such a beautiful historic hotel with so much potential. Additionally air conditioning only cools to about 74 degrees. Not acceptable at this level of hotel.
