Nice experience.
Wonderful hotel. Had issue with water pressure going to zero while taking a shower. Received comped dinner as a result.

Lovely get-away
Our stay was extremely relaxing and our spa treatments amazing and wonderful. Second time here and looking forward to coming back again soon.

Poor service
The room was great but the food in the hotel wasn’t the best. The breakfast was frankly disgraceful... we were told the continental breakfast was until 10.30am. We went down at 9.45am and there was nothing left, no pastries, no bread. When we asked the waiter he told us there was none left! The spa is also quite disappointing, we went to the relaxation room and there was tea there but no hot water nor water... when we asked we were told that the relaxation room was closing in 20 minutes... so?? If there was 20 minutes left surely that’s enough to get a cup of tea?

Return is disappointing
Having stayed at Bishopstrowe regularly10 -12 years ago this visit was disappointing. The room was fine but lacked anything to make it special. The bathroom fittings as with other fittings around the hotel seem to have been selected by price rather than in keeping with the lovely old building. The dining room is noisy and lacks any atmosphere. The furniture in the dining just seemed cheap and staff that present food with the phrase "here you go" do not add any class. The menu is lacking in options and the food when it arrived was overcooked, under seasoned and cannot be recommended. Unfortunately we did not have a chance to visit the spa which may be the saving grace.

Decent stay, a bit pricey once you are in.
All very pleasant plus we could take the dog, which is a great bonus. She areas are a bit tired and there are some strange foibles to the place, although that gave it some character. Be aware the 'add ons' are rather expensive (£27 for 2 Gin & Tonics). Whilst the room cost is somewhat cheaper than competitors, a 1 night stay ended up spending the same as a stay at The Pig or McDonald Spa in Bath. The food and drink quality is very good though.
