Nice experience.
Wonderful hotel. Had issue with water pressure going to zero while taking a shower. Received comped dinner as a result.

A brief encounter
This was one night passing through the area and I was thoroughly impressed with the cleanliness and welcome from the staff. Bishopstrow has the largest room I had ever stayed in. A special mention to the front of house manager.

Great food, but spa facilities to be improved upon
The Hotel arrival was underwhelming - Reception looked really dowdy and 1 receptionist was on the phone for a good 5 to 7 minutes before able to start helping a queue of people wanting to check in/out. Overall service good. Hotel room was fab and nothing negative (unless you're the fussy type and can't deal with switching off the radiator yourself, or can't accept some water from the bath coming back up in the shower after you've pulled the plug - it's an old country hotel so those things did not bother us). The food is excellent, although breakfast portions relatively small and no fresh orange juice. Our lunch and dinner were very good quality. The Spa however, which is why we chose this hotel, needs urgent attention as it is looking tired and not well maintained. (This is run separately from the hotel, but with an internal corridor connecting the two) I sat down in the steam room and found that I was sitting on loose small tiles that were coming off the seating. The outdoor pool was open but was not heated or cleaned properly, no one was in it as a result. The dry sauna was good. the quiet area in the spa was not clean at all, dust and dirt on the floor which was noticeable even in the dim light. In terms of Spa treatment, my partner had a great massage, mine was less than average (masseuse ran out of time and therefore the hot stone massag felt unbalanced) and for the price of £90 it left me quite disappointed. Should have mentioned it but wasn't in the mood to complain.

Great stay at Bishopstrow hotel and spa
Our stay was great. The staff from before we arrived all the way through our stay and on leaving were fantastic. Having our baby in tow we had some specific requests such as a requirement for a room close enough to the restaurant for the baby monitor etc. and the staff helped wherever they could to achieve the requests. The hotel itself is very well looked after, clean and well managed (again the staff were superb). The local area is picturesque and there is a nice little private walk down to the river from the hotel. In all, a great stay and we look forward to going back again soon.
