Could have been so much better
Receptionist didn’t want us to check in at before 3pm. He suggested we go and get a cocktail in the bar whilst we waited for the room. His colleague confirmed room ready two mins later when my wife asked again. Asked receptionist how to turn heating down on entering stifling hot room. After he couldn’t make it come down any further he suggested we opened the windows. We did and the handle fell on in our hands. On 3rd floor, lift not working. No coffee or tea in room. Receptionist brought straight away. Told house wine in the bar by a very pleasant colleague was a Rioja at £44 to find out later it was actually a Tempranillo at £29. Already enjoyed the bottle. Room was spectacular on arrival except for heat, we had to leave windows open ajar overnight. The smoke detector on the ceiling over the bed decided to flash white for a period overnight. The window blind fell off around 3am which I put back up the best I could. Not the best nights sleep. Service at breakfast was disappoint andnot a pleasurable experience. The full English cooked breakfast was absolutely delicious with fresh quality ingredients. However we asked for more toast to go with the breakfast but it didn’t arrive after 10 mins so we reordered. You could see that after a certain time it was all about clearing not serving which was a shame. Made the Reception Manager aware following morning of all the issues before breakfast. The spa was very relaxing with very friendly colleagues. Totally different experience.
