The Vendue, Charleston
The hotel was OK, but it was a very poor value. The band in the bar was so loud, I could barely hear the front desk person during check in, and she even commented on the noise. Rudest bartender I've ever encountered. Creaky, uneven floors in room. Flaking paint on closet door. Doors on vanity had no fixtures and couldn't be opened. Again, bar band was so loud, I could hear them in our room at 11:30pm. No coffee maker in the room.

Beautiful but a bit of a waste.
Everything about the hotel was amazing . . . the location, the service, the staff, the food. The art inside was a pleasure to view and reflect. As a designer and illustrator I loved the hotel. That aside, the bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were nearly nonexistent. Noise from the hall was very loud. I put a towel at the foot of the door and that helped a little. For as much effort this place goes to just to provide an artful and rich experience, I expected to be comfortable and to actually enjoy my night's sleep. It was a great novelty stay, but I would not have stayed another night.

Everything was very good except the chain on the toilet had to be repaired twice and our room was very small.

When we checked in, we were taken to a room smelling strongly of mildew, in which we refused to stay. We were then given in its place a room on the ground floor that was next to a parking lot, and whose windows were close to pedestrian passersby. The bed could only be accessed by a small set of steps, a charming feature perhaps for some but an annoyance for us. We felt that we were penalized by the hotel for having booked with
