Building work and small rooms
I booked this hotel on the understanding it was a triple room. This was for my mothers 70th birthday. When seeing the room ( an extremely very small room with a bunk bed and a double at the bottom) I was more than annoyed. When I asked if I could move rooms I was told they were fully booked and were no more rooms, this was probably because the hotel was under going an extremely large re-fit which they failed to inform me when I booked. Please be aware when booking this hotel. ROOMS ARE EXTREMELY SMALL!!!!!!!!

Great hotel and restaurant
The hotel is right on the sea-front and offers great views of the sea and easy access to the beach as well as places like "The Lanes". Staff at the hotel were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The hotel itself was clean and well maintained and the bedroom was great with a huge bed, good mini-bar and tea / coffee making facilities and even decanters of free Sherry and Gin. The bathroom was clean and well maintained, there was a walk-in shower but no bath which might concern some people but we thought it was fine. We didn't have a drink in the bar as we preferred to visit some of the local bars (well worth a walk around The Lanes to see what you can find) but we did eat in the restaurant ("The Jetty") and the food was excellent. The only slight blemish was that the wi-fi was slow and almost not usable - but then you're on holiday so maybe it's a sign to switch off your devices. I would recommend this hotel and hope to re-visit some time soon.

Could be much better - do not go for family room!
We have stayed in other harbour hotels and loved them. This one was a disappointment in comparison. I think they have tried to open the hotel too quickly and corners have been cut. Finish wasn't as good, the infinity pool doesn't exist (and may not in the future according to the receptionist), basement spa area felt too hot, claustrophobic and not enticing. We had booked a family room and it can only be described as a cupboard with too little room for the 3 of us to get ready for the wedding we were attending. Bathroom was tiny and smelt of damp. I have worked in 4/5* hotels for a number of years and this was the smallest room I have ever come across. You couldn't open the window shutters on one of the window due to a lack of space and the other window was frosted due to the poor views. We complained and did get upgraded to another room for which we were grateful otherwise we would have left. The staff were friendly and helpful when requested. Breakfast was good especially the continental selection. However we did have to prompt for toast, butters and sauce so more training of the new staff would be good compared to its sister hotels. As we left the hotel, a fire engine was there as another guest got stuck in the lift. My husband used the toilet facilities where water was dripping through a light fitting in the ceiling. It could be so much better and hopefully in time things will improve as its in a good location but do check in advance the size of your room!
