nice rooms, but...
Hotel is in a shaky neighborhood. Room had no air conditioning (in July) and alternative room only blew hot air. No offer to fix the a/c and had to ask for a fan. Leaving the window open is a problem as there are several noisy, small bars on the narrow street. The rooms themselves had been updated, but still not the kind of area you feel safe at night.

Good for budget, not for comfort or relaxation.
Not the best experience. Room was ok, but bed wasn't comfortable, pillows were thin, a.c. didn't work and we weren't able to transfer rooms. The neighbors were loud, began blasting music and shouting at 2am and didn't stop until nearly 4am. On the second night we were given a small table fan to help with the heat of the room, but that did very little as there wasn't an easy place to set the fan to actually blow ON the bed! Shower sprayed EVERYWHERE and towels were small and stiff. Overall, just an unpleasant experience. Located in not so nice part of town, a bit of a walk to metro.

Out of the way but clean, comfortable, and quiet.
Arriving of the train at Paris Nord station I wanted a place that was conveniently located. It actually is within walking distance, but the Metro will take you right from the train station to a stop just around the corner from the hotel. It is on a small side street and with the recent influx of foreigners in Paris of recent years some may be put off by people who seem to be just loitering around, but this is Paris so get used to that. The hotel itself is recently remodeled and the rooms are quite comfortable all be it small. Regular size by european standards. You will have to open large luggage on the bed and place your clothes in the wardrobe. The colors were cheery and the room had great air conditioning, as well as a window that opened in my particular room. The bed was comfortable and the pillows of good quality. The staff were very helpful and all spoke english. It appears to be in a co op of 17 hotels in the paris area if I understood the manager correctly. A little out of the way and hidden but very comfortable and quiet.

Tiny rooms.
Before arrival of the hotel, we were somewhat sketched out by the surrounding. A bunch of homeless people day drinking 20ft from the steps of the hotel. Hotel and rooms were very clean but also very small. None of the doors could fully open.... Worst of it, they charge for anything possible. Even printing.

Great value stay
I stayed here with my now-fiancée for a week. The hotel was small but well maintained. The room was exactly what we needed: just big enough for ourselves and our belongings, a place to sleep and refresh ourselves before exploring Paris. Plus, free wifi and USB plugs in the rooms. Services were pretty good. The continental breakfast was good however at €10 per person is can get pricey quickly. The concierge was very helpful throughout our stay. The hotel is 200m from the Bonne Nouvelle Metro station and a 5 minute walk to Strasbourg-St. Denis where you can catch other lines to Gare du Nord. Very transit friendly. The neighborhood has a vibrant nightlife so be aware that turning in early may be difficult (the street noise was a bit loud). If you're out to enjoy it, so much the better. Plus, the bank and post office is practically next door. All in all, it was a very pleasant, well-situated, and comfortable hotel. It's not ideal for space but it is great if you are looking for quality at a reasonable price.
