Superb Location, Masterful Service
Old Parsonage Hotel is an absolute delight, from start to finish- all of the staff dealt gently and quickly with my ignorant foreigner fumbling. The restaurant is superb, deserving it's shout-outs in tea-service lists, and the guest library with available food service is a treat if there's ever a day where a guest would want to stay inside and recuperate. Americans may be unused to walking through the restaurant section to get in and out. There was a side door that we noticed some other guests use to at least exit, though re-entry that way our own key didn't serve for. Likewise strange to an out-of-towner, while listed as having parking available, DO contact the Old Parsonage Hotel ahead of your arrival to make sure they reserve it for you. The lot is only so many spaces and serves for the restaurant as well. Luckily for us there was a space that one of the members of staff kindly stood in while we circled back after a drop off to ask and check in (definitely above and beyond polite service on the hotel's part.) The location couldn't be more perfect and walkable to The Eagle & Child pub, many of the Oxford colleges, and evensong at the churches. We even happily walked to the Covered Market, Alice's shop, and the Bodleian Library/Weston New Bodleian without trouble.
