Not bad, not good
The Wifi service was inconsistent. No help with luggage from the 4th floor at 6 AM in the morning.

Wonderful Stay at the Academy
The hotel was beautifully comfortable and snug. Check-in was fast and efficient, and the lady (I forgot her name) was very friendly and helpful. I left my luggage for storage while I went out. When I came back, another check-in person was at the desk, and he was really helpful and brought my luggage up for me to my room. The excellent customer service was continued with the other hotel personnel, from the ladies at the continental breakfast, to the bellhops. The hotel location was perfect, close to all the sights as well as strategic tube stations (Russell Square!). The hotel is also close to lots of restaurant and pub options, as well as convenience stores like the Co-Op. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in London!

Very nice hotel in a wonderful neighborhood.
We were traveling part for business and part for pleasure. I attending a conference and my husband traveled with me as a tourist. I chose this hotel because of its quality and value within the neighborhood we wanted. It was literally a five minute walk from the conference site at the University of London. In addition it's about a ten minute walk from the entrance to the British Museum, which we planned to visit. The hotel room was very clean, comfortable, and pleasant. It was also extremely quiet considering the hotel is located on a busy street. Our room was on the first floor (second floor in the U.S.), overlooking the back. It was a little on the small side, including the bathroom, but honestly, it was fine for our needs. The staff was very friendly and helpful. One of the best things about this hotel is the location. It's situated near three underground stations, so you can choose which one to use based on your destination. We also walked to many places from our hotel. It is on the corner of Gower and Store Streets and Store Street is lined with cute restaurants and shops. We loved that street. And it connects with Tottenham Court Road, the site of more restaurants. Bloomsbury is just a fantastic neighborhood and within proximity to many other fun neighborhoods and transportation. So, we would definitely go back to The Academy Hotel and Bloomsbury on another trip to London!

Happy with the Academy
I booked this hotel at the very last minute, relying on reviews alone to make my decision. I was not disappointed. The Academy was easy to find off the Russell Square Tube stop. It's only a couple blocks away from the British Museum. The room was large by London standards. It was old and quaint but everything was very clean. The little sitting room downstairs was very cute and even had a little connected courtyard with tables and a small fountain. The price was more than fair. Would definitely stay here again!

Decent place. Could use some updating though.
Decent place. Shoe-horned into existing building, so only able to adapt so much. Could use a good renovation. Walking up and down three floors to get to my room gets annoying. Fairly good location (a few minutes walk to a few different Tube stops).
