Lovely hotel on the lake!
We had a lovely stay - the room was nicely decorated, very clean, and very comfortable. The coffee/tea situation was fantastic. The bathroom was brand new and very well done. The hotel itself was in good condition and well-maintained. There is an easy parking lot on site so that made this hotel really easy to access by car. (The town is very steep so if you're with disabled relatives, please be advised.) The restaurants on-site are quite nice - there is a nicer dining room and then a more accessible bistro. Kudos to the restaurant staff- they were very attentive. The breakfast is wonderful. The views from the common rooms (and some individual rooms) are beautiful. The only two negative comments - 1. there was a wedding coming in the next day and the staff was very brusque about it. 2. There was a male lobby attendant during the day who was very unfriendly. The rest of the staff was lovely.

Take a boat ride on Windemere Lake, get off at Ambleside Pier and then walk on to the town of Ambleside - great shops, beautiful countryside, and lots of restaurants & pubs!

It was a really nice hotel and the staff were lovely especially reception they were really helpful. The decor is lovely suited to the building. The rooms were really hot as didn’t have air conditioning that was the one thing that let it down for me but otherwise really nice, enjoyed the short stay

Little... but lovely. Don’t bring your cat haha
We stayed at this hotel years ago before it was renovated by laura Ashley. They have done a beautiful job. It’s stunning. The decor is gorgeous. We opted for a ‘cosy’ room planning to maybe upgrade on arrival. But our room was ready and the upgraded rooms were not so we didn’t. The cosy room is really that. Very small for the money really. The bathroom is nice and the room is fine but when you have two adults, two bags and maybe an ironing board in use for example, no cat swinging would be possible here. But the bar is lovely and the breakfast was nice too. It was a great base to explore Bowness as it right in town and there was ample free parking. Will stay here again. Just maybe in a bigger room
