It isn't Downton Abbey!
This is a former abbey, not a former castle. It has been refurbished as a country manor but could use a serious renovation and upgrade to bring it to the next level. Some of the furnishings are tacky and not in exactly a charming country home shabby-chic. Some things were being services...the sauna and spa were out of commission. But, when the sun shines, it all evaporates and the place has a lot of comfortable charm and the rough edges seem less important.

I would not recommend this place
The grounds and the location were amazing. The room was musty/moldy. When I said something about it to the front desk they gave me a can of febreeze. The walls are paper thin and doors banged all night. You could hear the neighbors using the bathroom. If I hadn't paid so much money I would have checked out after the first night.

What a great time.
This property is a delight to stay at. The staff could not have been friendlier. The food was very good and ample in amount served. Having the owner wait on you and walking around just adds to the experience. We happened to be there on the open mike night and what a joy to hear the talent that is in the area. We should have booked a couple of nights. Would recommend this place for the person that wants a quiet off the beaten path locations, but wants to sit in a quint bar for the evening with locals.
