This is a great hotel to stay at on a budget. It is situated about a 20 minute walk from downtown, so not dead central, a bus ride from Union Street station and a 20 minute cab ride from the airport. I had a huge double bed in my room with a fridge and microwave, tea and coffee station, hairdryer and iron/ironing board. My room was on the main road, but adequately sound-proofed. There was a simple continental breakfast provided downstairs with disposable tableware. Suki's bar and Grill is downstairs too where there is nightly karoake entertainment and late night food too. The Tuesday night comedy had some professional commedians too and would definitly recommend. Tony on reception was particularly helpful and suggested The Portland Bar and Grill downtown for excellent city views. It didn't disapoint and was excellent value. There are a few restaurants and bars nearby, under 10 minutes away if you don't feel like making the trip into town.

Poor 2.0
I booked and stayed at tbis property for 5 days. My reason for the stay was surgery at OHSU for an implant of a spinal cord stimulator. My boyfriend and I loved the price and the fact that its a simple property with just what we needed. I was to be released from the hospital the next morning.....due to complications from an accident overdose of a medication in sugery my stay at OHSU was 4 days leaving my boyfriend at the room and responsible for packing. When we got there on sunday March 3rd and being from Pendleton I wear Ariat boots, I took my boots off and put them between the bed and the night stand. Seemed a good spot to me, but with the set up of room 15 its tight quarters so the bed and stand are fairly close to each other. Me not know I wouldn't be back to the room and my boyfriend would be left to pack everything up on time to check out and pick me up from OHSU......he missed my boots!!! I having had a rather tramatic and major surgery hadn't even thought about my boots until Monday March 18th, the first time could wear them since surgery......well no boots!! Talked to the boyfriend and yup, he hadn't grabbed them when packing up. I called that day to see if they where there, knowing that the staff had to be honest, I was fairly happy with what little stay I had before surgery. Evening staff told me he didn't see them but that things get put away too so check back during the day. Beings I had my follow up appt March 21st I'd just stop by and pick them up. NO BOOTS..

Fine for 1 night
This hotel would be fine for a quick 1 night stay, however, longer than that, was not my favorite. The room door was wide-open when we arrived to check-in, and it was pouring outside. I do not know if this was the cause, however, the carpet and room was damp for the entire stay. I let the manager know when we were checking out and he did not have a response. He only responded by letting me know we could not leave our dog alone in the room while staying there. The dog is an old service dog and perfectly happy to sleep in the room quietly. The concern for a barking dog was understood, however, hearing that as a response to my complaint of the damp room was not understood. The A/C unit kept shutting off as well so we could not get a constant flow of air to try and dry things out. The beds and bathroom were fine, nothing fancy, but that was not expected. The continental breakfast was very limited but it was sufficient for the cost of the room. You get what you pay for.

Hotel teleported in from 1971
If you've done any highway travel, you've stayed at this hotel or its clones before: the two thin bath towels, the one bar of soap you have to move from the sink to the shower and back again, the exposed "closet" and the ironing board hanging in plain view on the sitting-area wall. This one was kind of unique, in that it had exposed electrical junction boxes with conduit attached to the walls (which my phone charger kept falling out of). Decor: a study in brown, brown, and more brown, with some sepia thrown in for contrast. It sits at the intersection of three busy streets and over a karaoke bar, so the hotel helpfully provides earplugs at the front desk. They don't help. The day manager may have had a personality but he did a good job of hiding it (the night man was more lively). We didn't go near the "continental" breakfast, which is served in the lobby, an area about the size of a gas-station restroom and opulently furnished with the sort of sofa you see in all the better thrift stores. Fortunately, the karaoke bar downstairs is also a full-time restaurant and the food, both at breakfast and dinner, was surprisingly good. The best thing I can say about the place is that my friend and I booked it during the Oregon Brewers Festival, when rooms downtown were going for $300 per night and up, and the alternatives were $70 rooms fifteen miles away; this was a 20-minute walk and a $7.50 Lyft back. We paid something like $150 a night, and were glad to get it.

Good Place, don't be dissuaded by the reviews
SW Portland, just 1/2 mile from OHSU. 2 stories, at door parking. We were in room w/Queen and double bed. Check-in and out EZ, Wonderful TV, heating and a/c, fridge and microwave, darkness curtains, very comfy beds, 3 dressers, room safe, bath, sink, toilet, iron and board, pole lamp, ceiling lamp, 2 table lamps, phone, electric locks, openable windows, no closet, but a hanger section, ice bucket, 4 pillows some soft some hard, comforter. No artwork, small trashcans (2). Clean. Building in two rows, the east row is over a karaoke bar, the west row is not. Property on slight hill. Enter on Caruthers (one way heading west) or Sheridan (one way heading east) SW Barbur (one way going north) or 5th, one way going south. So, CHECK YOUR MAPS. Older property, affordable. Families, small pets ok, continental brkfst in office, Hilly area, driveway a bit steep, not bad. Everything west is hilly, about 3 blocks to get back on I-5 South, The bad is color scheme is brown, no lamp by table (move it, we did). Some white paint or yellow paint would cheer it up, the all brown motif makes room seem older than it should. Electrical outlets are jutting from wall, but ample number. Wi-fi free and no problem. Iron and board are on wall (no closet), but roomy enough for 2 sets of luggage, bags etc. Old style sink shows age of hotel, smaller, water pressure fine, shower has 2 adjustable heads, funky shower pull on switch (from bottom of spigot). Thin walls.
