Be Careful at Gamboa Rainforest Resort!
This resort charges almost $200 a night and it’s a robbery for what they deliver. The food and services are poor, the place smells of mold, they pump a/c into the guest rooms 24 hours a day and the old thermostats have no controls on them. And, most seriously of concern, they have thieving employees. I had money stolen from my room within four hours of my arrival. I figure my room was entered while I was on a one-hour guided nighttime foray around the property to see nocturnal animals. I didn’t discover the missing money until the following morning. Their security folks looked into the electronic entries into my room and told me there had been no intruders - all entries and exits had been mine alone. They also told me that I should have used the room safe! On the plus side, the views from the terrace are fantastic and the pool is great. Also, the tour guides do a nice job. But that’s about it. Be careful at Gamboa Rainforest Resort - or avoid it altogether!

Jungle resort with a great pool
This place is very nice, right in the jungle. We LOVED the pool and the grounds. Rooms were comfy, the bar was nice. The food is mainly fried, could have some more veggies. The staff was nice and helpful.

Moldy and Tired resort
Mold, mold, mold. The problem is this is a tired old resort with a serious mold issue. Overpriced for tree top tram visit. Fishing was a good deal. I would suggest only staying for 1-2 night if you want to do activities nothing longer.

Food Poisoning / Bugs & Horrible Management
We've traveled around the world and stayed at rain forest / tropical locations in countries including Laos, Vietnam, Bora Bora, Maldives, Costa Rica. This hotel is in the middle of the rain forest. There is no place to go outside of this hotel, you are isolated once you are there. We speak fluent Spanish which helped. After eating lunch, my wife got food poisoning and went to the Dr. This is actually an EMT with little medical training. They said, she's sweating and has to go to the hospital. Since it was 90 degrees I thought sweating wasn't abnormal. The hotel has ants / mosquitos and bugs everywhere. Crawling the walls of the lobby, in the rooms, literally everywhere. What is doesn't have is hot water. We ran the shower 10 mins and then called the front desk and was told, run it 5 minutes more. During checkout we were told they would take the meal off that gave my wife food poisoning, they just needed the manager to do it. They never followed up, never cared or did anything. At best this is a 3 star resort with painful management. We loved the trip to Panama and the 2 other places we stayed, this hotel needs a lot of work and would have been better as a day trip from Panama City... by the way, pack your own lunch.

Faded glory! Service is awful! Location fabulous
Service sucks!!!! Not any more what it had been. Lack of management and lack of training! Lack of clear signage. Loud bar music infects all spaces around! Ecoligical sensitive area, and a fantastic location which is the reason I gave it 3 stars rather than 2, but the hotel is not an eco lodge except in pretense! Very disappointed!
