Somewhat disappointing
The front desk staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The breakfast food was good but the service was terrible. The location of the hotel was good and very walkable to most attractions. To say that this hotel has seen better days is being extremely kind. Normally I am ok with that. In this case the things that made it not ok were the mold on the ceiling of the shower and in one corner of the bedroom. There were also the two long black human hairs, one in the bathtub and one on the bathroom counter. The bed was also the hardest I've ever slept on. I would probably not stay here again.

Shabby but elegant colonial hotel downtown
Most reviews are accurate - this is a once-fancy but now slightly rundown hotel right downtown. The staff is very professional and polite, the rooms are nice but slightly musty, the piano is a really nice touch but has a broken key, etc. etc. If you're looking for 4-star, or new and immaculate, or resort-style, look elsewhere. If you're okay with a very reasonably priced old hotel with character located a few minutes walk from the Catedral, Teatro Degollado, Palacio del Gobierno, and all the other central attractions, and don't mind hard beds and older rooms, you could do much worse than this hotel. Book online and make sure it includes breakfast, the buffet is great and knocks the per-night rate down to a very reasonable level. Also, the park right in front has a beautiful old temple, a tourist information kiosk, and is a hub for several city bus lines and taxis, all of which we took advantage of.

Fantastic Breakfast, Fantastic Old Historic Buildi
We just stayed 1 night but I'd booked 3 rooms for the 5 of us. All rooms were very noisy at night and beds were very hard. The complementary breakfast was outstanding! Made to order omelets, pancakes, fresh fruit and fresh juices besides all the wonderful mexican delicacies you can eat! Beautiful view from pool right by cathedral and very secure complementary underground parking. Unfortunately they speak very little English. All in all an average hotel in an historic old house in a great location right in the middle of the historic district.
