    Used to be 5 stars? Nice enough

    Comfortable, attractive property but needs some maintenance and service a bit lacking (eg. i called room service one evening and despite multiple calls, no one would answer the phone... I even called the concierge to ask them to call room svc for me and they never did... must have been super busy...) the spa was also closed for renovation.

    The room that I stayed smelled horrible. It looked clean but It smelled really bad body odor. I asked to change room immediately but they said that all the rooms were booked. Really? They said sorry but they did not mean. I spend $150 to sleep uncomfortably. I also ate $30 buffet dinner which was not even worth it. During the trip, I stayed 2 Hilton hotels in Gurgaon aria and Andaz in Delhi. The Grand in Delhi was the poorest service and old property. The price was very cheap as 5 star hotel in Delhi area but there was reasons. I would not go back.

    Dirty, disorganized, and gym is closed

    I've stayed at this hotel many times since our India office is very close by. This time while checking in was the second time they didn't have my reservation from hotels.com - the last time was extremely frustrating and they led me to believe it was hotels.com that made the mistake, and made me rebook (and pay again) and deal with hotels.com for the refund of the original booking. When it happened again this time, I basically told them "here is my confirmation, you figure it out" and they pretty much had to figure out what room I was getting on the spot. The next day, someone knocks on the door and apparently is still confused about what days I'm booked for, asking if I'm extending my stay. The reservation system is completely disorganized and nobody at the front desk will take responsibility for it if you confront them. When I was checking out, they were apparently still confused, and I ended up wasting more time explaining that it is whatever backward process they have in place that caused the reservation to be lost. The room was also dirty around the edges and corners, and the toilet seat had stains on it. I am personally not one to nitpick such things, but the combination of issues I had this time have been extremely frustrating and they really didn't care when I brought them up. Everyone else at my company who travels to Delhi has stopped staying at this hotel in favor of a longer ride to the office from one of Delhi's cleaner and more organized 5-star hotels.

    The Grand New Delhi is an immense property that offers many amenities. The staff was more than gracious and very helpful. The hotel was very clean and very well appointed. My room was comfortable and looked out over the quiet interior garden. The breakfast offered varieties of Eastern and Western foods. Several things: always ask at the front desk if there is any construction on site and how close to your room it is. My day of relaxation in my room was completely disrupted by the racket two stories below. I decided to visit their spa and relax away from the jackhammer (seriously). You know where this is going: the spa was being worked on and my pedicure would occur right next to the extreme noise. Aaah. (There was no signage about where the temporary spa was and only one person knew the access door. It's too long a tale to tell.) Instead of the pedicure I decided to sit pool-side and enjoy quiet time with a book. No one was about, but the dance/disco/pop music was BLARING. My request to turn off/down the music took 30 minutes to accomplish. My room had three hangers and I requested about 10 more as I like to unpack and hang my clothes to de-wrinkle them instead of ironing. That took three phone calls and about 10 hours to accomplish. A cup of coffee took 10 minutes to be poured at breakfast after two requests. The Grand is well-staffed, but not well-coordinated. For a five-star hotel, they need to be better at delivering requests. Lovely place.

    The was a lovely hotel with very friendly, accommodating staff. There is a slight musty smell throughout the hotel but it was tolerable. The unlimited water bottles were very nice. We were in town for a wedding and the in house sari fitting was very convenient.
