4/10 Fair

Not family-friendly, horrible restaurant
We're a family of 4 with 2 toddlers. Good parts: room was clean, well-organized with a walk-in closet. Check-in was smooth, valet parking fast. Bad parts: 1. Horrible food and slow service at onsite restaurant (Notch8). Breakfast potatoes were so salty to be inedible. My benedict is also too salty. Sausages were meh. We ordered blueberry pancakes for the kids. That came after my and my husband's food --- they should bring the kids' food first or at least same time, otherwise we parents will just be waiting and eating cold food. What's worse, their 1st attempt got the order wrong so we had to wait for a 2nd attempt. All this waiting meant my 1-yr-old is crying and I'm walking him out of the restaurant to avoid disturbing everyone else. We gave Notch8 food another try at night with kids' spaghetti takeout. We were desperate since one child was asleep. Pasta sauce in a jar from grocery store tastes better. 2. Stroller-unfriendly, steps everywhere with no ramps. 3. No changing table in their giant public bathrooms. With their restaurant bathroom out of order, I had to take my child all the way back to our room during breakfast to change a diaper. 4. Elevator traffic jams. Only 2 working elevators during peak check-out hours. 5. Outdated pool that looks to be from the 50's. Need renovation. Water not very warm. We were so excited for our first time at Fairmont but came out super disappointed. The poor restaurant quality and outdated pool killed our experience.

Great stay
The hotel is beautiful and the standard of service was excellent. All the staff we met were incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Overall our stay was a great experience

Lovely stay - expensive parking.
Always lovely to stay at a Fairmont. Great location, nice room, comfortable bed and very clean. However the mini bar with the sensors is unfortunate when you just want to chill a bottle of water or something. I appreciate the kettle and selection of teas but the tiny little espresso cups aren’t really practical for tea. We stayed 3 nights and the valet parking cost was $250.00 so next time we’ll probably go back to staying at the Fairmont waterfront or the Pan Pacific.
