My husband and I booked this room early for the Formula 1 race weekend. Imagine our surprise when we showed up after a long day in the South Texas heat to a hotel that was closed! Expedia never notified me and apparently the hotel didn’t notify them because I spent the first hour on the phone with Expedia waiting for them to confirm that the hotel I was sitting in front of with a fence and gate around it was indeed closed. After 3 phone calls, being hung up on once and more than 2 hours on the phone with Expedia I had to book my own replacement room 30 miles away for over $700 because of the special event rate. I have submitted a request for reimbursement but over a week later I have not received any response. I have used Expedia multiple times in the past, even for international travel and never had a problem. This was beyond ridiculous. It was after midnight before we got in a room. I do not recommend a hotel that doesn’t notify their partners of closings. And I do not recommend Expedia after being treated so poorly.
