Great old style hotel
The hotel is in the heart of the old town, an old Palazzo type of building having the grace and style that one cannot find easily anymore. Getting to the hotel was not easy but thanks to the car GPS we managed to get there. One needs to have the booking details on hand as access to the street is controlled by Police and you need this to get through. To park in the hotel carpark you need again to have prearranged this but the hotel does not provide for valet parking, a great pity, as getting into the carpark is difficult. The room was of reasonable size looking into a narrow quite side alley and the facilities and bathroom were good. Breakfast was on the second floor in a large area of interconnected rooms, richly decorated with tables covered with white tablecloths and good quality cutlery. The food was plentiful but with a focus on sweets, as many Italian establishments tend to offer. Coffee was from an automatic machine and that was a disappointment, although the coffee was OK (the only one out of the five hotels that we stayed in Sicily). The hotel’s central location was a great advantage as it provide us with easy access to some of the main attractions such as the Duomo, Norman Palace, Opera House, and many restaurants of varying standards were available in close proximity. This is a great hotel in a good location, but if one was to come with their own car they will need to be prepared with the access issues of getting there

Lacks certain facilities-not suitable for disabled
We arrived about 10:30 at night. Owing to the road outside the hotel being closed off, we were dropped off by the taxi in 'Quattro Canti', about 30 metres from the hotel. As this was on a Saturday night, the place was heaving with sight seers. We were pointed to a gloomy street and told that the hotel was along there. We walked along there wondering what we had let ourselves in for and found a dark entrance which we took to be the entrance to the hotel, but not certain, and came to a glass door which assured us that it was a Eurostar Hotel. We then went in and found ourselves in a palatial reception, with marble tiles and glass chandeliers. We duly checked in, given our room numbers, and asked where we could get a coffee and something to eat. We were told that the bar on the third floor was open until twelve. After being told the best direction to get to our room, we went, dragging our luggage, up nine steps to the lift, (there were two), up to the second floor, along a corridor, up another six steps to our room. THERE IS NO PORTERAGE. As previous said by another contributor, the room had a window facing into a central courtyard and another facing a blank wall. The room itself was quite large and nicely appointed with an on-suite bathroom with a very nice walk-in shower. After depositing our cases, we went in search for the bar which we found on the forth floor and which was about to close. We did manage to get a cup of coffee each but no food.

Poor 2.0
AVOID. Look at the attached photos.
This is by far the worst hotel experience I had. I have attached some photos of the bathroom which is totally disgusting and should not be acceptable even in a 2 star hotel. First, the 2 ladies at the reception are the most rude receptionists I have ever seen in my many travels: rude, loud, totally unhelpful, and not really interested in doing their work. 2. there was NO AIR CONDITIONING (end of April, really hot in Palermo). I asked the front desk, and I was told that they will not start the AC for another month, and there is nothing they will do about that. The room was extremely hot at night and I could not sleep (totally uncomfortable). The street entrance of the hotel is the dirtiest I have seen. The furniture in the reception area is a shame. The Bathroom is disgusting (see photos). The shower is extremely small (about 80 cm x 80 cm: see photos), one can barely move while showering. I big person will get stuck in the shower !! The breakfast is a joke: the lowest quality of everything.

Exceptional 10.0
old world class
Converted old palace with marble everywhere! Very spacious room and well appointed bathroom. The breakfast was a very large selection--even arancini and pizza! Our booking said breakfast was included but when we checked in we were told no. Fortunately I had printed out a copy of my booking showing free breakfast. When I questioned it the desk person got a bit snippy, telling me I was wrong--till she checked and then told me I was correct, breakfast was included. Great location for shopping and walking to various nearby sights including the opera house and cathedral. A little difficult to get to as the city has the street blocked to one way traffic it appeared, though our driver got us through. A bit disappointed at the lack of bell service given the unavoidable stairs to get to the elevators.

Very Good 8.0
Hotel is like a palace. Rooms not to great (but not that bad either). Bathroom was a bit smelly with mold due to lack of ventilation. Heater not great and barely emitted any heat. Plus you either get a double bed or 2 singles in a double room and in our case we got 2 singles so had to push them together (this can be a good thing though if your other half fidgets!) Better to eat out rather than eat in the hotel restaurant - food was average compared to rest of the great food available in Palermo, and obviously more expensive. Stunning views though but it’s open during the day if you want to go in and take pictures. Offers something different and a more romantic feel as everywhere else is busy, so worth a try. You cannot get a better location - the Quattro Cantti (Four Corners) are literally 30 seconds away at the end of the road and everything is within walking distance. On the whole, a really nice experience and would thoroughly recommend it
