Good pool, old dirty rooms
Many poor reviews but close to the barn where the kids were riding and they loved the look of the pool. The pool was great and everything else not so much. Black mold behind toliet/window area. Ripped carpet, broken windows in hall. stains in all the carpet. Beds were very old but not as uncomfortable as I thought they would be. Bedding on teh 2 beds didn't match. not enought towels. Food service was horrible!!!!!! and food not much better. Other reviews are accurate that state needs a lot of updating! like replacing windows and ripped carpet. some rooms metal strip has been placed over the ripped carpet and some just large holes in the carpet. Eat elsewhere. Friends room hadn't been cleaned when she checked in.

Close to the Border and the Beach
Checking in was a bit convoluted. Room wasn't ready, but we were early. Got a new room, but it wasn't on the top floor. Got a third room, but when we went in, it hadn't been cleaned. Came back after getting lunch only to find the television didn't have a cord. Called housekeeping twice to get that resolved. Bathtub drain was very slow -- stood in water to shower. Called on that. Room and hotel looked very 'tired' -- it needs fresh paint. There was touch up painting done in our room, but all the brushstrokes showed. Had a fair bit of street noise and hallway noise even though we were the last room on the top floor. Dining room was lovely. Breakfast was perfect. Service in the dining room was excellent. Lobby and pool area are beautiful. We wanted to love this hotel, but it didn't measure up. Big plus: an easy drive to White Rock and the beach.

Falls Short
This is a hotel that is living in the shadow of what it once was. It is old and In poor repair. It feels dirty and run down. It does have a pool/spa and restaurant, and they try to make it work. But it is a two or three star experience in a what once must have been a great four or five star hotel. The staff is friendly, but the hotel needs to be upgraded. Carpets need to be replaced, beds need an upgrade and heating and AC need repair.
