When we checked in, we were put on the second floor which was quite honestly, a terrible place to have a room - it was dark, there was damage to the hallway walls and the carpet was dingy. Our room was just as bad, wall paper coming off the walls, soft bed, view of the busy street outside (and extremely loud), bathroom drains (shower and sink) did not work and the shower had two settings, ice cold or boiling hot. In the morning I spoke with the front desk person (his name is Jai I believe and he provided the only bright experience in our stay) and we were grateful he was able to switch our room to one on the 8th floor and get us out of the "prison" of the 2nd floor. The new room was cleaner, the drains worked, quieter, beds firmer and the bathroom worked. Breakfast is only good for convenience items like muffins and toast, coffee, yogurt - the hot items (eggs and sausage) were mostly inedible. The location was great - one or two blocks to theaters, times square and MTA. It's been a long time since we've stayed in Manhattan, so maybe this is what a 2.5 star hotel is like for $300+ these days - but we weren't that satisfied. Be careful - stay here for the convenient location, but don't expect a comfortable living experience.
