Great West Side hotel with character
We asked for a room with an interesting view. On the sixth floor in the corner we had a view of the Collegiate Church with charming rooftops and a glimpse of the Hudson River and NJ. The room was spacious compared with many NYC hotels and the bathroom was contemporary with large gray and ivory tile. Dark venetian blinds were attractive and cleaner than heavy fabric curtains. The clientele was interesting and eclectic with many foreign visitors. The lobby had great character. All in all, a hotel we would be happy to return to.

Subpar accommodations, book early elsewhere
Lobby was ok with small lounge/cafe area. Elevators and rooms were tiny. I expected better. I anticipated room with kitchenette and all it had was a tiny fridge. (Was told only 1 room has this in all hotel) The area was away from hustle but close enough to attractions having train within 2 blocks. Gym was subpar but useful for quick workout. I would not recommend this hotel for standard room... cant say what more expensive rooms look like but everyone we came across didnt look too happy either.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel
Overall I would not recommend this Hotel to my friends, unless they had to be on the Upper West side. I had an early business meeting on the UWS so booked this hotel, but outcome was unhappy $200 for one night stay. Rooms very dirty and dark and gloomy with zero view just a wall. Shower tiles were green old just disgusting and hairs from previous guests in the tiles and even on the hair dryer! Front lobby was like a bus ticket counter, no staff service manners unlike Hilton or Hyatt. Good thing was excellent location and small cafe. I loved the server's service and good coffee. So many other cheaper nicer hotels on the midtown east side.

Convenient and Charming Hotel
We really enjoyed this hotel! We rented the suite because we had 3 moms and 3 toddlers, and hoped to get the kids to bed early. The suite could really use a door to separate the two rooms; we ended up sitting in the hallway to chat after we did bedtime with the kids. The best adjective would be charming; the hallways and elevator were narrow, and everything was clean and well-kept. I loved the historical feel! Wish the hotel would have had a bar or room service; we had to use postmates for food one night! It was in a perfect location for what we wanted: walking distance to the children's museum and natural history museum and central park, easy access to the 72nd street subway, (where the express trains stop), and close to several playgrounds (including my son's favorite - Diana Ross) and walking distance to his favorite book and toy store on Amsterdam Ave - book culture!
