Close to Beacon Theater
We came into the city for our anniversary to see a show at the Beacon Theater and wanted somewhere close to stay overnight, but not extraordinarily expensive. This was wonderfully located within close walking distance to the theater, as well as fantastic restaurants. There is a doorman and the staff was very attentive. The room was small, but comfortably laid out. The bathroom was also small and may be a tight squeeze for a big or tall person, but had all of the essentials. The one downside was that the room had a musty smell that was so strong, we would not have been able to stay in the same room another night, if that had been our plan. The desk staff was very apologetic when we told them about it. Hopefully, that was an aberration and not something we would ever encounter again. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, and we would choose to stay again.

I had a great stay. The room was extremely clean so that put my mind at ease. The staff was very friendly and efficient so both check-in and check-out were quick. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful old well-preserved hotel in a great area, lots of good restaurant choices nearby within easy walking distance. Very safe area. Room was small but quite adequate and very clean. Staff very friendly.

Great neighborhood location close to subway
After three days near Times Square, moved to the Belleclaire for more of a neighborhood feel. Upper west side offers quieter streets with families, grocery stores, and schools but still very easy to get to busier parts of the city. Location is great if you plan to ride the subway - a couple blocks from two subway stops. Easy walking distance to Central Park, upper west side shopping, natural history museum, and grocery stores. A suite is worth the extra money if you value space - our room had a large living room, small bedroom, and small bathroom. The room was quiet and clean. Only issue was that the TV in the living room didn't work (fuzzy and no remote). And no complimentary coffee - just plan to pay a couple bucks for a coffee in the lobby each morning. We needed a late check-out last minute and the hotel was very accommodating. In short, Belleclaire is a nice, spacious, older boutique hotel in a relatively quiet part of Manhattan with great subway access - we would definitely stay there again.
