Mercure London Paddington, London
adequate place for a quick business stay
adequate place for a quick business stay; tiny room, barely enough space for me and two suitcases; nice a clean, helpful staff

Good for Heathrow express
it was fast visit but well located. I didn't open the window so the room even at 1st floor was quiet.

Three hours to check in runied my birthday
My husband and I had one night in London. I reserved and prepaid for an executive room, upon arrival at 5pm we were told our room wasn't ready. After about 25 minutes we were told the hotel was overbooked and they had to move us to the Mercure Hyde park about a block away. We were told our room would be all set and ready when we got there. Not only did we have to wait in line at check in but the room wasn't ready. Once we did get our key we found we were downgraded to a basement room that could not have been larger than 10' x 10'. I went back upstairs to let them know this was not acceptable and was told the hotel was sold out. I called the Hilton across the street and was able to get a room there. After asking for a refund I was told they did have a better room on the second floor to move me to. This room was only marginally better but after wasting 2.5 to 3 hours of my only night in London I accepted the room. The rooms are really small and while they offer amenities they are odd not useful. They provide a hair dryer but no outlet in the bathroom, a small desk cramped into the corner but the swivel chair is not on wheels and difficult to pull out and move in. The only positive I have is that the rooms and public areas seemed clean and well kept. I should not have had to deal with all this run around and aggravation on a prepaid reservation. This hotel just misses the mark, there are too many other options in London. I won't use Mercure again and can't recommend it.

The rooms are very tiny and claustrophobic. Staff not overly friendly. Hotel felt stuffy and poor air circulation. Small lounge area and not well stocked. The attached restaurant for continental breakfast was very limited. Overpriced. Location to Paddington Station is the only real plus.

Heading home
Stay was good. Hotel location was fantastic, just at the corner of Paddington Station. We were flying back to Phoenix the next day and could just take the train out to Heathrow Airport. Mecure also had a restaurant/bar and we ate dinner there. Food and service satisfactory
