Beautiful property but in need of some service.
The property is fantastic: safe, peaceful, lush, and 2 blocks from Duvall Street. You can park your car and leave it until you check out as everything is within walking distance. The foliage is dense and gives one the feeling of being in a jungle rather than in downtown Key West. There is a cute swinging chair and 3 nice pools. The room was nice with a comfy bed and nice bath but I was given a 2nd floor interior room which was a touch tight space wise. The steps up were narrow and steep, especially when you are lugging your suitcases. My only issue with the hotel is a general feeling that they are cutting corners and overcharging. They charge a resort fee and when asked what it covers they said wifi, breakfast, welcome bev, etc. Given I am an IHG member, I always get free wifi. The breakfast was not as good as that provided by other IHG properties but you could buy hot food from a food cart guy if you wanted to supplement the cold continental breakfast provided and got there before he ran out of supplies. Never got a welcome beverage. They had water set out but no cups. They ran out of food at the buffet. Little things but given the nightly rate, and resort fee, I expected the amenities to be at least as good as those provided by IHG's Holiday Inn Express. I left in love with the property but questioned the shoddy attention to detail.

Lower Your Expectations.
We rented rooms 50, 53, and 61. The property grounds are beautiful. The rooms were small and minimally appointed. The beds were comfortable but there are structural issues with some of the flooring and tiles. The service staff weren’t very friendly but were accommodating. It was hard to tell who was staff as there are no name tags or uniforms. I’d say this place is really somewhere between a B&B and a hotel and didn’t feel 4 star as they claim. The breakfast was just ok and the guy who runs the grill isn’t very friendly and didn’t seem professional. He’s more like a friend who wants to use the grill and not there to serve anyone. He’s polite but didn’t make us feel comfortably welcome. The pool near the bar is nice and there’s music in the afternoon. A bit loud but we enjoyed it. We wish there wasn’t a baby in a diaper in the pool. Yuk. There were two plumbing issues that were fixed. Room 50 had a private balcony which was lovely. Room 53’s a/c unit was a standard wall unit and the room was very small. Room 61 is like a dark walk-in closet without windows except for one small window in the bathroom. We received three king bed rooms as booked but I’d advise anyone staying there to call to book to know for sure of what you’ll get. Those accommodations aren’t 4 star despite the Frette robes and nice linens. Maybe this is all due to being post pandemic. Hopefully this review helps them up their game.

Customer service lacking
This was our 2nd stay at this property. While we love the grounds, design, and aesthetic of the property, the customer service was next to nonexistent. When we checked in, there was one guest in front of us and one front desk person. It took well over 20 minutes for my turn, and then it took the front desk person another 10 minutes to “find” my prepaid reservation in their system. We were given a room with no internet service and where our phones wouldn’t even get a signal. We asked to be moved, which thankfully they did. In a five night stay our room was cleaned twice. On the second day, housekeeping came to the room while I was showering for dinner after 4pm. We asked them to come back in 30 minutes. The front desk then called and told us the cleaning staff would be gone by then and we couldn’t get the room cleaned. We asked for additional pillows, they brought us towels instead. The free breakfast is another nearly nonexistent feature. A couple bagels and danishes and yogurt. But you can buy breakfast sandwiches. It’s a bait and switch from what is offered in the room details. We ended up eating breakfast elsewhere every morning. Lastly, while the interior design has great style, much of the furniture looks beaten up and rough. And all 3 pools desperately need to be cleaned. The scum at the waterline was disgusting. For $500+ a night, I’d expect better. This place is cute and great in some ways, but no longer with the cost. We’ll stay elsewhere next year.
