Bizarre tale of compromised security.
I stay here quite a bit. It has been a truly excellent boutique hotel. This past trip something bizarre took place that's worth recounting. I stayed in room 103--a junior suite. Excellent room, but there is a real security hazard here. The room in which I stayed could not be locked from the inside. Only from the outside. From inside the room, there was one of those thingies that allow you to open the door a bit and see who it is. But it's not a real lock. Dangerous--It was possible that I could be locked into the room from the outside with no way of leaving the room except by jumping out of the window. Dangerous situation. Be careful before booking here--be sure to get a room that allows you to lock and unlock the door from the inside. Otherwise, my stay was perfect. The room was large. The amenities excellent. Fabulous bed, bedding, AC, bathroom. Spic and span clean. Truly a great hotel, just be sure you don't have a problem with security like a did.

A lovely interlude
It was so wonderful to alight at such a lovely place after a long journey! The room, the service, the atmosphere, and the food were all top notch! Thanks for my perfect stay.

Great service, close to the Heathrow Express and centrally located ... walking distance to everywhere in the world's most walkable city.

DO NOT STAY HERE
Room was in the basement and had a terrible, moldy smell. Requested a new room, after discovering the smell. They said they could not do anything, short of sending housekeeping to the room again. I think they just sprayed Febreze and opened the window. After taking a shower later that night, the smell got worse -- and I realized that there is no fan or ventilation in the bathroom. Also, the shower only has a partial closure and no shower curtain -- and after taking a 5 minute shower, half of the bathroom floor was covered with water. It took all of the bath towels to sop it up. I then noticed that the side of the shower where the water had hit clearly had been happening for a while as there was extensive water damage there. See the attached photos. No wonder the place smelled of mildew and mold. It was absolutely foul. If my stay had been longer than a few nights, I would have moved to another hotel. I will never stay here again. I would not recommend this property to anyone.

Wonderful Introduction to London
We stayed at Roseate House for two nights in advance of connecting with a 23 day grand tour of Great Britain and Ireland; a trip that was planned in celebration of my 70th birthday. The staff at Roseate House generously upgraded our room and shortly after we checked in a staff member arrived with a beautifully plated slice of cake with Happy Birthday written on the plate with white frosting. The staff was friendly and helpful at all times. We were given a wonderful recommendation to a local pub for dinner and the daily breakfast was delicious and unhurried. The location was incredibly convenient and walkable to some of the most beautiful sections of London. After our stay we had to move to a different hotel to meet our travel group, but I have to say I wish we were still at Roseate House. Thank you for such an enjoyable first few days in London.
