Beautiful quirky hotel loved our stay
We stayed at the hotel for our wedding anniversary for 2 nights. On arrival check in was a little busy due to what seemed to be a conference so took a little longer to check in but staff lovely and apologised for this. Beautifully quirky clean rooms with a comfy bed, amazing bathroom with the best shower ever! They’d left fresh fruit on the table for us and we loved the snack box! The only problems were that they only left enough for 1 person which was a bit disappointing and the coffee filters were best before June 2018 - luckily my husband went to clean out the kettle and when he did the water coming out was brown and slimey so we decided to give the tuck box drinks a miss anyway. We had to call down for extra towels and an extra robe as the room again had 1 of everything and not 2. We even had 1 set of plates to eat the fruit on. With it being our anniversary we wanted a robe each. Staff were great though and gave us what we wanted on request. We were also only provided with one left over toilet roll from the previous guest and & a full toilet roll, but on day 2 the cleaners fully cleaned our room and topped everything up which was fab and even left us a little box of sweets for our anniversary. The only thing they didn’t do was take the dirty plates away but maybe someone else does this :) The TV had its issues and turned on and off constantly so we ended up just using my iPad. The hotel was amazing apart from little bits and we would stay here again. Loved it!

Good location, friendly staff
Very nice hotel. I reserved a single room but at check-in was offered a double room for 15 pounds extra which was OK because I was staying 9 days. The double bed was good, the room comfortable but because under the roof, a bit awkward for me (I'm very tall). I took breakfast in my room which was always delivered on time and very good (fresh products, coffee eggs and toast hot). Nice welcoming notes in my room, free snacks, free Wifi. There are some comfortable and atmospheric lounges on the side of the square. I didn't eat in the restaurant because there are plenty of good restaurants nearby but the restaurant (Lebanese) looked full and popular every night. The staff of the hotel is very friendly, polite and hospitable. The breakfast and bar area is not really to my taste (chairs a bit uncomfortable) and a bit noisy (it is also used for parties and weddings) but the service there was also very friendly and there are quieter alternatives in the hotel if you just want to enjoy a drink and read. I didn't use the Spa facilities but the services they offer look good. I can recommend this hotel and will stay there again during my next visit to Edinburgh.

Exceptional 10.0
Absolutely wonderful!
My stay was absolutely wonderful! I booked a single since I was traveling but solo and from the start the staff who greeted me and checked me in, I believe her name is Jen, was gracious, friendly, and helpful! My room was very clean and tidy! This hotel has thought of everything including a night light for reading next to my headboard and a towel warmer in the bathroom! I had warm towels all day long :) The restaurant hotel is so pretty and there’s even a spot where you can have coffee, read a book looking out the wndow. Plus it isn’t so close to everything. I took the airlink bus to Prince Street from the airport. Getting off the bus, above me was the Edinburgh Castle :) Then it’s about a 5 minute walk from the bus stop to the hotel so don’t spend money on a taxi from the airport! It’s also a 3 minute walk to Waterstones, a cafe with the best view of the castle. Walking distance to The Mound, The Royal Mile, Wdinburgh Castle, and Dean Village. Also, I had an issue with the safe in my room, and within minutes someone’s came up and helped me with it. Super accommodating!

Very Good 8.0
The staff were very helpful and friendly on the whole. The decor was very pleasing. It was a nice hotel and busy. However, I had to tell them that I had a problem with a blind not closing late at night and so not getting much sleep; the plug in the sink not fitting the plughole -- too big and mould in the shower, although everything else was very clean and well made. I also had to ask for the milk carton to be replaced as it was sour.

Very Good 8.0
Had requested room with bath prior to arrival, which was received. However was a wheelchair accessible room, which was very spacious, but unfortunately the sink was at a level far too low for non wheelchair users. We requested a different room which was provided. This room did not have a bath, as requested, and on entering the bathroom, I noticed it was very dusty and splash marks were apparent on the radiator, mirror and door. On return from dinner, I spoke with Reception about no bath and the bathroom complaint. The Receptionist apologised profusely and said that this was not the normal standard. She immediately advised that we would be upgraded to another room with a bath. I advised that we knew this was not normal, as we have stayed in the hotel on many occasions and have never had a complaint prior to this. We were then upgraded to another room, which had a bath, and was very comfortable. However on inspection of the room and bathroom, certain areas of housekeeping require attention. I appreciate that there is a high turnover of guests in this hotel, however it is a 5 star hotel and facilities require to meet that standard.
