Very Good
I had a great stay the 1st part of my vacation. Helpful staff. I was so pleased. When I came back a week later. Different story. When I checked the clerk was very rude When I asked her if she gave me a bottom bunk. She told me no she was saving it for a lady who had knee surgery and was checking in late I said that was me. She said no and would not believe me. She later gave the bed to a young man who arrived shortly after I did. When I complained to her about it she told me to get lost Saw her again the next day when I went to collect my bags She wasn’t at the desk. I waited 5 mins. I was running late so I said loudly hello. She come up from down stairs yelling at me. Saying it’s you shut get out don’t comeback I was having such a great experiences with your hotel. I come to Boston often. I’m a bartender in Virginia City nv. I know what it’s like to work in the public. But she was way out of line. Swing shift clerk on thurs the 8th

Compact, clean budget room with good design
I wanted a budget room and that's what I got, so I am happy with my stay. The service was good; I had an eye issue when I checked in, and the desk clerk gave me eye wash -- I very much appreciate his kindness. You might need to ask for an ice bucket as well (no fridge in my room). The single room is very compact, like a train car, and I enjoy trading the comfort of a bigger room for the cleverness of good design. I thought the room was clean and nicely done. I happily parked my glasses and charged my phone in a cubby right next to my bed. I enjoy small spaces and wasn't there to spend a lot of time in my room anyway. Some might feel cramped but I had plenty of room for my 2-night stay. One other thing: to get to my single room (and I saw another like it on another floor) I had to go into the starirwell, then to my room. This unconventional entry did concern me as a female solo traveler, but it was fine. I figured I couldn't miss the exit in case of a fire! But you could upgrade to a double room for not much more money.

Chic but missing some elements
Great location in the heart of the city. Close to the theater District and Chinatown. A quick trip to-and-from the airport (traffic depending of course). Close to the Charles, and other wonderful Boston experiences. Rooms are chic and modern dormitory style. My room was extremely clean. Downside: you can hear everything- outside, upstairs, next door, the hallway. If you want a goodnight rest, I probably won’t recommend this hotel. The air conditioner in my room would make a horrible kick noise every time it would turn on. The elevator is slow - you’re better off taking the stairs. I also noticed as I was leaving that there were a few rooms that had had the numbers fall off and they were across the floor... The reception was not very welcoming - asked for my name and handed me a key. They do have luggage stowage. They have coffee and tea...as in a Kuerig in the housekeeping quarters downstairs. A bit odd for a hotel that is trying to be swanky.

Good
We were given two rooms, just off the lobby. We could hear everything in the lobby including check in, check out, the staffs phone calls, etc. There was noise until about 3am, then it started again at about 5am. It was very hard to sleep. The other issue was the size. The room didn't even have space to open my carry-on suitcase, except for on the bed. There was no bedside table to sit my belongings, because there was no room for one. It was a single, double bed because that's all that would fit in the room. The bathroom was recently redone and was nice. The location is pretty nice. There is $26/night parking in a garage across the street (special rate for guests). Staff was nice enough to give me a bottle of water when I asked. Size and noise were just so bad that I won't stay there again.

Good
If you're in the market for just a bed in a great, accessible neighborhood in Boston this it foe you. Im not sure thet i would call it affordable. We took the 2 queen bedroom on the 5th floor for two nights for just under $1000. There was a television and two, admittedly COMFORTABLE, beds. The desk folks were pleasant and the room was ready on time. I have to say thst i missed having an iron, refrigerator and coffee maker in the room. Other than that, it was quaint, if not sparse, and safe. It was reminiscent of the many hostels found in Europe back in the day.. Alas, twenty five yesrs later, it seems apparent that my traveling requirements have...evolved. To sum it all up, i didn't hate it, but im not sure I would go back. Safe travels!
