Don’t do it
I was really going off of the reviews and the fact that the hotel was rated a nine. I am not sure how that happened. I have a huge list of reasons that I will never stay there again. I was disappointed with the service of the front desk; there were numerous issues with our room and they had no sense of urgency to fix them or make it right with us. Our bathroom sink and tub didn’t drain, there was a light bulb out in the bathroom in the main vanity light. The heater in the room sounded like it was about to fly out of the wall. There was also a stain on the carpet. The breakfast was terrible. There was hardly any food and they had a hard time keeping the food restocked. There was one lady and she tried. But it was also very messy. There were pizza boxes left in the hallway all weekend. We were leaving for the night and there was garbage in the hall and the cleaning cart was sitting there. I was very disappointed to say the least. If you’re looking for a 9/10 this is not the hotel!

The great complimentary breakfast, fresh-baked cookies in the evening, and exceptionally hospitable staff at the front desk, combined to make my stay at the Monona outstanding - and at a very good price, compared to the competition.
