Old hotel in need of total renovation
Badly dilapidated hotel. Rooms are small and need renovation. Terrible gym. Mediocre breakfast. Very friendly and helpful stuff cannot redeem it. Most certainly not a five star hotel by far.

Excellent location/lovely staff/ Room only Average
Purpose of trip was a one night away for myself and my wife. The hotel location was excellent The staff were welcoming, friendly and all in all excellent. 4 people at concierge one took bags and another parked the car for us. Now for a few negatives. (Sorry) The room cost €260. This did not include breakfast which I was aware of before hand which is fine. Breakfast included would have cost an extra €15 each. (We just went down the street) On checkout we had to pay an extra €20 for the use of the car park. The room was a lot smaller than I would expect for the cost of room. There was dust on the lamp shades.(seems petty but for €260 a clean room is the least you’d expect) There was broken tiles in the bathroom. Bottom line is the hotel is overpriced for what you get. I would be happy to park my own car, carry my own bags and stay in a cheaper/cleaner hotel in future. To be honest when asked at checkout how was your stay- I just said yea fine cause I couldn’t be arsed at the time.

Friendly staff - disappointing facilities
This is NOT a 5-star property. Room is tiny, smelled like mold, rundown and you can hear every little noise from other rooms or hallway. The bathtub/shower is a hazard. A senior person could easily fall and die attempting to climb to get in and out. The concierge is attentive and the staff overall is friendly but unfortunately doesn’t make up for the disappointing facilities. The location is convenient right by Grafton St and the park.

Convenient to Grafton Street
Started with a very bad experience. I took a cab from the airport to the FitzWilliam, and the door attendant told us that we did not have a reservation - maybe we were staying at another property with the FitzWilliam name. After the cab driver took us to another location, I walked back to the hotel and the reception desk told me that I DID have a reservation. While they helped me get my bags back to their hotel, I was travelling with an elderly relative and it was very upsetting to have to deal with so much confusion - especially after a long day of travel. They need to co-ordinate their reservation date with front desk and outside check-in staff.
