This was a very beautiful historic hotel. At least 5 star. The service was impeccable. The downside. We selected this hotel because it had a pool. No where on your site do it say it COST to use the pool.. It was over $25USD per person, per day. I wanted to use the pool NOT BUY IT! Needless to say since there were 5 of us and 2 rooms (which was NOT cheap) we did not use the pool. We also would have selected a different hotel if we would have known there was a charge for the pool You need to be more forth coming on extra charges.

Okura is not just its name...
The service of Hotel Okura was impeccable. From the check-in through the check-out, the staff's attention and swift response to our needs were impressive. The room we stayed had a great view overlooking the Higashiyama mountain district, Kamogawa River, and Takasegawa Canal. Along with the canal, there are plenty of sophisticated local restaurants and bars. The hotel is located right above the subway station of Shiyakusho-mae (City Hall) station of Tozai Line, and such that it was quite easy to access to mostly anywhere in Kyoto. Breakfast sites (you can choose from three restaurants within the hotel) were a bit noisy with families, but other than that, our stay was thoroughly comfortable and memorable. We would love to stay at the hotel once again.

Brand new, stylish hotel just across from the Imperial Palace and centrally located for tourists (along bus routes directly to major historic sites). Congenial staff. Pleasant, quiet, modern rooms.

Not a new hotel but curtsey was good. Walking distance to shopping center area and subway station is aside of the hotel. 4 stations away from kyoto station and the nearest bus station is right by the hotel, in front of the city hall. A good place to grt around kyoto but not as fancy as the other occidental hotels. Expensive foods are served at the restaurants in the hotel. Good tastes cost a lot in Japan.
