Great staff, mediocre food
The hotel is clean and the concierge staff is excellent. The problem is the kitchen. The people are nice in the dining room, and the chef I spoke to was pleasant. However, hot food is lukewarm even on warmers. The morning eggs are cold and so runny that there was a blanket of liquid on top. Several days the breads were stale in texture and taste. The hot water pots were coldish so the dining room staff replaced them with other lukewarm pots and had to go get me boiling water from the kitchen. The desserts were okay (especially chocolate) but the breakfast pastries were quite good. The dinner offerings were not inspired. The hotel is located near the "Station" with quite good restaurants, and a few blocks from German Colony with other good restaurants so there is no need to eat there. The location was good; a shuttle to the Jaffa Gate across the street, you can walk to restaurants and the cinema, etc. The rooms were quiet, clean, and supplied with good quality towels and shampoo, etc. There is a sun deck which could have used cushions on the lounging chairs but it was quiet when I was there and very nice. Although there was a ramp on the concierge level to the elevators, on my floor (2) there were steps to each group of rooms. I had not asked for handi-cap accessible rooms so expected a tub shower which was fine.

This hotel was good for it's purpose, however wouldn't say exceptional. It could have been cleaner, overall. Bathrooms are outdated and carpet needs to be replaced.

Great Staff
Was there to see old friends....was a little way from downtown and Old city, but staff showed me a bus available most of day from across the street. Staff was outstanding, very helpful--all of them from the front desk to the maids. Noted that most the managers were involved with their staff, cleaning constantly, and straightening areas constantly. Would definately stay there again. Breakfast was very good too, and they made me a box breakfast for an early airport departure.

Smells like a skunk. Great otherwise.
A nicer than nice staff. My single biggest problem with the Dan Boutique is the artificial fragrance that wafts throgh the lobby through the ac vents. So bad I got a migraine from the scent and had to take medication. Breakfast was unoriginal and never varied.
