Stay in an English Manor House
We were looking forward to this hotel especially based on the pictures . We arrived to the hottest weather southern England had had in 40 years-and there was no A/C...having 2 fans barely got us cool. The "proper" English breakfasts were right on and having cocktails in the evening after dinner on the grounds were well received. Rooms needed some updating.

Wonderful location
Beautiful hotel and location. Stayed in a suite which was amazing. Just wish the staff had been a bit better. Used the spa which was ok but slightly put off by all the abandoned towels everywhere from earlier users that hadn’t been tidied up. The showers also needed updating. Ate in the pub down the road called ‘The Stag’, definitely worth a visit. Breakfast at the hotel was ok. Buffet breakfast but no cold meats or cheeses and cooked items weren’t that warm.

Pleasant quiet stay
Check in was at 3pm and we had arrived at 11 am. We normally like to go straight to reception to let them know we are here. The very nice smart gentleman said our room was ready so we went to it early. We had a room in the block opposite the main hotel. Windows had been left open so there was a nice airflow. There was also a fan if we needed it. The room was unusual that it had a room off the bathroom which was like a dressing room. Bathroom itself was a little warm. The only real fault with the room was that the T.V was not in a good position to see it from the chairs or the bed without getting a stiff neck. We used the pool at the hotel which was nice, changing room was a bit poky and needed a refurb. There were 2 boys playing ball, which I don't think should be allowed in a hotel pool as they are small enough. Gardens were very nice and there were plenty of seats. We didn't eat lunch or dinner at the hotel, instead we went to the Mary Arden pub a few miles away. We slept fairly well. The mattress was a little uncomfortable as it was too firm and pillows were a bit too hard. Breakfast next morning was well organised, hot food could have been hotter. Staff didn't clear pots away as you finished them so it was rather cluttered on the table. We would certainly return to this hotel. Thank You
