Everything was great

Mom and daughter trip
Lovely stay at Avila. Very easy with a child, with the beach right there, and another one a short taxi ride away. Also restaurants on site, but they weren't so tasty in my opinion, especially for the price. Definitely worth it to walk off the resort for a few meals, especially dinner at Rozendaels (arrive early with kids! Highly recommend key lime pie with passion fruit sauce); lunch at Kome (a bit less pricey for lunch); also brunch a taxi ride away at La Boheme was fabulous and well priced.

Avila Needs Improvements
CONS: Avila Hotel was ok, nothing special. If you're looking to do nothing then this is the place which is exactly what we wanted. However, service is not the greatest. You're on island time so they'll get to you when they get to you. Very nice people but just on island time. My fiance and I fast daily for 16 hours so not getting our food right away wasn't a problem for us. The Shooner Bar, just look up and you'll see all the black bugs stuck to the white tent and flying around in your food. The food at the Avila is not the best. If you're looking for a great places to eat try the local restaurants such as Fishalicious, The Wine Cellar, Kone and many more. You should make reservations prior. I didn't mention the bed which was the first night and I'll post the picture. When two people roll in the middle that's a problem. First thing I thought of was how many bodies have slept on this mattress. I called down but nothing was going to get done till the next morning. We ended up stripping the bed and flipping the entire mattress over to try and get a somewhat level, less hilly bed but that was just me hoping. It was fixed the next day. They also seem to have an insect problem because those critters are everywhere at night. Fiance got all bit up by mosquitoes not only because she attracts them but they could do a better job keeping this under control. Positive: Very Nice people Very welcoming Blue WIngs room and view was decent Swimming and snorkeling was fun

Everything’s great but the service
Everything was beautiful. The room the beach the views. The service is atrocious. Went to lunch one day and took just under 2.5 hours from when we sat down until we were able to leave.
