Centrally locacated
A little overpriced for a hotel in need of refurbishment especially as breakfast was not included. Room size good & staff very helpful.

Coventry hotel
Nice hotel. Staff was very helpful as was able to leave bags there until check in. Great pub called the Phoenix just a couple blocks away. Bed was very firm to my taste. Like sleeping on the floor.

Low expectations turned out to be very optimistic
Pretty awful hotel. On the food night the hotel was raised by armed police who raised a room and dragged out an armed resident. The staff did nothing to appolgise or settle the minds of the remaining guests. The were also unwilling to be flexible with breakfast not letting us in 5 minutes to 7. Also the girl on reception was miserable and inflexible wanting us to pay for our room before we saw it.

Why is there no wifi internet access in the hotel rooms
Was in Coventry for a friends wedding and checked into this hotel. An acquaintance who dropped me off had tried to persuade me to change my mind as it was reportedly a very old hotel, but on checking in I found out it was apparently fairly well maintained and met most of my expectations except for the fact that this hotel located in the center of Coventry town, next to the university and close to very many businesses, does not have wifi in the hotel rooms but only in the lobby. This is 2015 for Gods sake, and I would Neva understand why it is so.If I had found out there was no wifi in the rooms prior to booking it certainly would have influenced my decision to book.I think this should be looked into. That being said I thought every other thing was above average.,and location excellent, grocery stores and restaurants just a few seconds away.

Friendly and helpful, but user-unfriendly
We stayed in the Brittania for only one night, and it was a comfortable night. When the heating unit would not shut off, they moved us to a different (and better) room. The Reception personnel were very friendly and helpful, and everything that was to be sorted out was done as promised, including breakfast delivered to the room at 5:00 a.m. - although certain things that were on the menu were not available. The bathroom (which included a Jacuzzi tub/shower combination) was clean and well equipped, with plenty of towels, and the bed sheets were clean. Unfortunately, the hotel has, apparently, seen little investment over the years: There is no WiFi in the rooms (only in the lobby); the door to our room had to be slammed in order to shut it tight; there was no light on or above the desk, so one couldn't really work at it; one of the bedside lamps was not functional (in the first room, there were no bedside lamps at all!); the heating units cannot be shut on/off manually; and the furniture has the feeling of dusty old pieces from the 1950s. It had more the feeling of an inexpensive MOTEL rather than HOTEL. Having said all this, we really didn't expect much more for £55 (about $88), and for a single night stay, it was fine. It certainly is not for someone who needs to get some work done while there. I definitely would not want to stay there for any extended period.
