The district of Zhongshan lies in the northwestern part of central Taipei. It’s home to the vivid colors and intricately designed dragons of Xingtian Temple, a very popular Buddhist worship center. By day the Taipei Fine Arts Museum showcases contemporary works of art; by night the museum itself becomes a masterpiece, artfully illuminated with brightly colored lights.
Along the Keelung River, you’ll find a number of waterfront parks perfect for sporting and recreational activities like roller-skating, cycling, and mini-golf—including Meiti Riverside Park, Yingfeng Riverside Park, and Dajia Riverside Park, which also hosts the famous annual Dragon Boat Race festival.

Wonderful location and view. But bad service.

I think the room could’ve used more decoration and color so as not to look as dated as it is. Please provide a guided tour in English for tourists. Stay here for it’s historical significance, not so much the comfort.

Its “grand” only when you at least 300 meters away from this hotel. Closer you come, less “grand” it will be. Nightmares will start directly in the lobby and will follow up you all the way of your stay. Rooms are not clean, my shower was full of woman’s hair. And this is during the virus time in Asia. all rooms should be disinfected, but here even not clean. So it’s not safe to stay here. Next unpleasant experience is Chinese restaurant: they tried to cheat me for few hundreds. Last but not least, to use hotel facilities (sauna, steam room) you have to pay. After all this experiences the duty manager even not said sorry at all.

This is a unique place, with history, charm, many food options and now even a family mart. Booked a corner suite, and the views were glorious. Big bed, big rooms, big balconies. Dining room food very good, but we found the garden dining more comfortable. Glorious flowers in lobby and live music.

Chiang Kai-Shek’s East Tunnel is now open for visitors, but not if you’re a guest in the hotel? Only for people who buy some special banquet package? This is really inhospitable. Plus, the Family Mart inside the hotel is inexplicably closed before 8 pm? And, no VIP upgrade! The Golden Dragon Restaurant, at least, was excellent, staff and food and service all outstanding.

The Grand Hotel is the only Chinese Palace style hotel in the world and is one of the landmarks of Taiwan, which alone is worth a stay. Food was very nice, staff were friendly, overall very good.
