First with the positives, the location in proximity to the beach was great. We rented chairs and an umbrella from La Dolce Vita and the guys working were super nice! Spent all day on the beach and it was bliss.
Then onto The Island itself… I saw some reviews that mentioned it was a “cheaply redone motel” which was pretty accurate.
They did allow us to check in early, as the room was ready at noon. That was very much appreciated! They tried to charge us for parking, and we corrected that. More on that later. The lady at check in gave us a map and circled the building where our room was…except it wasn’t. After circling the building twice and asking a staff member, she had circled the wrong building. We walked across the resort with our luggage to the room.
Food was bleh and definitely overpriced for what it was. Staff was all very nice though. Good drinks.
But then, we checked out and got the bill. I asked for an itemized receipt so we could track all the food and drink we charged to the room. We saw we were charged $50 for parking! Remember, we had no car and we told them that! But we caught it and got it removed. Then, upon further inspection, we found we had been double, even triple charged for THE SAME ITEMS. You can clearly see the same $ amt and same check # MULTIPLE TIMES on the bill.
And when I checked out, a woman next to me was also claiming she was overcharged and it ruined her vacation. Me too, ma’am, me too.
