Bring your ear plugs!
We found the heating/cooling system to be extremely noisy to the point we turned it off at night. I also found myself looking for more clothes hangers. The CBS station on the TV dropped out randomly. I expect this was the cable system or TV station's problem, not the hotels as the other stations were fine. Overall the room was as expected for Theater district. The staff is great and always helpful.

Second Stay...and Still Love It.
This was my second stay. Great location near theatres, subway and restaurants. Close to everything but 48th between 8th and 9th is remarkably quiet. Room was in good shape and includes fridge, microwave and k-cup coffee maker. Perfect for breakfast every morning. Highly recommend The Belvedere!

big rooms for NYC, great views, gangster bellman
For NYC, the rooms were large. From the 12th floor, we had fabulous city views. We changed rooms part way though the visit, and views were great on both sides of the hotel. The location is perfect for many major subway lines, Broadway theaters, and Time square attractions. Room service is really take out from two nearby restaurants. The downside is you have to eat with flimsy plastic utensils from crackling aluminum foil dishes. The upside is that it is way less expensive then hotel room service generally is, it was usually pretty quick, and the selection is large. It is not gourmet, but everyone can find something to like. The fridge and microwave in the room were great for families. The hotel was clean, but the infrastructure is old. There is no central AC. Individual AC units in the room were so loud it sounded like a broken washing machine. The decor is traditional, not stylish, which was sort of a relief after the "chic" all grey decor I usually see. All the staff were friendly and helpful except some of the day bellmen. The worst was Louis. He was constantly pulling out his wad of cash and counting it in front of people before taking their bags. If the tip wasn't big enough, he would just leave the bags sitting in the middle of the lobby after tagging them. This was particularly hard on European tourists who seemed bewildered. My teenage girls were positively terrified of him, and other bellmen on his shift seemed to feel pretty much the same.

Reasonable Hotel close to Times Square
It was good. Beds are a bit small. Queen beds would have made a difference without compromising the room comfort. Mattress was a bit noisy too. Maybe old. The water on the bathroom sink was also not transparent, it was kind of "milky". Staff very kind and willing to help.
